Took Anna Mae's Mother to JFK Medical Center in West Palm Beach for check up on her surgery and Implant,  Great News as she can do more a little more by herself !!
.
It is HOT, it was 96 in Okeechobee but news said it felt like 102, funny because back home in New York it is only 68 and my Brother is crying about how cold it is !!!!  He is wearing his coat!!!!!
.
Anna Mae's Mother lives   on a Canal that goes to "Taylor Creek and the Lock down there is closed.  Water is at 12.7 feet which is low!!   We got home and I took some free time and I WENT FISHING!!!!!!!
.
.
Bang, first cast and I got a nice scrappy "Warmouth", they are a nice scrappy fish, Anna Mae was tired and said she would take a few pictures but she was heading for the recliner in the house and chat with her mother.
.
Second cast and I got a "Whopper" as my Dad would say,  this thing put up an awesome fight but I did get it landed!!!
.
.
I finally got Anna Mae to quit laughing but she said she had to get a picture of this "Whopper" !!!
.
.
Anna Mae tried to get a picture of the Coot and her babies but they would not cooperate!
.
.
I caught about 2 dozen fish of assorted sizes and types, it was fun and my Honey finally came down and got me to come in before I got fried in the Sun or over tired!!!!

A Beautiful Sunset!!!!!!

Hotter than Blue Blazes

We are still in Florida, Anna Mae is working with her Mother helping her get back on her feet, they did not walk outside today, it was 102 on the Thermometer, "Not in the Sin", so I really don't know how hot it is outside but my Grandfather Silas would say it's "Hotter then Blue Blazes" !!!!!!
.
.
Took the rental car out for a ride, we took a break as Anna Maes Mother had some Doctor Appointments and we had some free time!!
.
.
Saw this nice beautiful Caracara and were lucky to get a photo of him.
.
.
We love to watch the Sand Hill Cranes !!
.
.
We drove over past the Old Okeechobee Land Fill and they now have it fenced in and lots  and lots of cattle there!
.
It was getting hotter so we headed back home as Anna Maes mother was due back from the Doctors office, Tomottow we have to take her to West Palm Beach to the Specialist that put in her Heart Monitor and Defib and Pacemaker..
.
I for got just how hot it could get, I do remember being below deck on the USS Morrison, FFG-13 when we lost Ventilation once and Guys were getting sick and passing out, I kind of had that feeling today till I got back inside to Air Conditioning !!!

Old Family

We went on an excursion, loaded up the car and headed out to go "Back Home" !   We went up to where I grew up, about an hour and a half from here to a Place called "Pond Settlement", you will not find it on a map nor will you find "Shawville" on the Map.
.
I read on "Shipslog" Post about talking to the Dead !  I always have, My Father would and so would most on my Family growing up as it was just normal to say Hell'o, Or Shout there name, was just something that was done !
.
. The first stop was to check in with my Father and Mother,  John and Ethel Wood, they are resting in Gates Cemetery just about a mile from the house I was born and raised in, this is a Cemetery that is for the residents of Pond Settlement and Shawville who lived there and there is not a fee charged for the Family Plots. Outsiders pay $250.00 for a "Plot" !    My 2 brothers John and Donnie, are here and my Sister Janice .
.

Next to the stone marker is a Rose Brush, it was purchased back in 1937 when my sister was born, he bought about 10 of them off a truck from a group of Italians that were peddling roses, flowers, apple trees from the Utica Area.     We have off shoots of them scattered around different places we lived, some places they grow big and other places they grow smaller, they are "Tea Roses".
I have some planted at our New (Old) House here in Deferiet, Also buried here are my Mothers Parents and Grand Parents and Great Grandparents, the Whitford Family, also my cousins.
.
. We went from Gates over about 3 miles to Shawville, here is another Family Cemetery, I am standing at the resting place of my Grandfather and Grandmother, Silas and Margaret Wood,  he was a Farmer and I grew up on his Farm !
.
.
Next we visited with my Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother, not far from his Son, Silas Wood.
.

. In the same Cemetery is my Great-Great Grandfather, Silas and Laura Wood.  Silas was a Civil War Veteran, enlisted 2 times and was discharged at age 44, he came home, was cutting trees and a tree fell and hit him in the head, killing him, he fought in some terrible battles in the south, survived 2 enlistments in the 60th Infantry Regiment of the New York State Vols, in Company B under Capt. Thomas..
.
.
Soon these Stones will topple over and become part of the Landscape sadly !    No one wants to put money into them or the time needed and now I am too old to tackle it !
.
.

 .
There are many many relatives buried in Gates and Shawville Cemetery.  They contain both My Fathers family and also my Mothers Family, the Whitfords.
.

.
Most all of the stones you can see belong to my Family !!!
