Summer and Family Reunion

Well summer has arrived.  We have gotten the garden off to a good start, things are growing. Anna Mae is picking fresh lettuce for sandwiches and it is good.
.

.
The second garden is only beans and onions and that is for everyone here to pick, pull and enjoy.
.

.
We were lucky as my son came home from Portland Oregon for a family reunion. this my son, Jonathan, Daughter Sabrina and grandson Brent.
.

.
We are all gathered out on the new deck being built on my son in law and daughters new house.
.

.
We got togeather for the Wood Family reunion and had 77 people show up, we held the reunion at the South Edwards School where my Grand Father and Great Uncle went to school and we stood on the same steps that they did for a family photo.
.
.
The above photo is the Old School and below is my brothers and sisters except 1 brother who was out of town standing in the same place.
.
.
.
 This is my family.
and this is the reunion of 2012,    77 of us showed up.
.
.
On a sad note I have lost a true and good friend, we worked togeather for a long time and he will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Hot Weather

Well we finally had a good day, it got up to 85 and hot, SO we took off and headed for Whetstone Gulf State Park for the day.
.

.
Nice cool water.
.

.
We took Pork Steak, BBQ Beans, Tabouli, Cheese Bread and Iced Tea and headed out.
.

.
We cooled off in the creek, the stone is slate and it is smooth and slippery.
It's always nice to walk around the nice cool water.
.

.
Changing cooking places.
.

.
I started cooking on the small grill with charcoal but could not get it hot enough.
.

.
I went to the Fire Pit and got a nice hot fire going with coals glowing, I brought some wood with me but the State Parks are very restrictive about bringing in fire wood due to the Ash Bore Beetle and a couple of other insects.  You buy 4 pieces of wood for $1.50 which is a rip off because I already own the land as I bought it with my tax dollars.
.

.
I cooked the Steaks and beans on this.
.

.
We enjoyed a nice Picnic.

DON'T FORGET, REMEMBER THE VET !

Moving on with Summer

.
Well, the 2 gardens are planted and starting to come up, we have tomatoes, lettuce, turnips and onions coming along.
.

.

Anna Mae worked on some house plants.
.

.
I planted some flowers, and I planted the Morning Glory near the shade tree, we have had Baltimore Orioles at the feeder.
.

.

.
The other garden of Beans and Onions is also coming up which is for all the Residents to share.
.
.
We got a chance to pl;ay at the Country Manor Nursing home Tuesday night and everyone enjoyed the music.
.

.
Never Forget our Veterans.
.

Don't forget, today is D Day and we need to remember our Vets.
