Tune Up

Well, this week has been a Doctor, Hospital and Inspection, Detection, Injection, type of week.
We started out at Lungs with a Pulmonoligist for Chest X-Ray, found 1 spot.  Then off to Ear, Nose and Throat where they fond a growth in the right side of the Throat.
This Morning was spent at 8AM at the Hospital being injected with Dye and Scoped in Cat Scan Image.
Now just have to wait for results to be sent out to be read.
.
.
We had a very bad storm the other night, we had winds of over 60+ MPH and it was white outs and snow drifts !
.
.
Wind and cold make breathing hard to do !! SO, I now normally wear a mask to avoid the shortness of breath and soreness of the ribs !
,
.
My Honey outside in the fresh Snow.
.

.
I have just started talking again about maybe we should think about moving SOUTH !!!  Maybe to an area like Okeechobee.
.
.
Who knows, she might just decide we should move to where it is warm !!!!!!!!
.
.

.
Will just go back to watching people shovel out their driveways and bring in heavy equipment where this last wind and snow plugged up everything !
.
Stay Healthy and hopefully Spring is not far away !!!!!

Winter Fun

Well, we are getting winds of 40 MPH, blinding Snow, temps of 24 to 31 degrees, freezing rain, so we are inside!!     Well we figured out the best way to fight the winter dole drums was to cook !
.
.
I pulled out a 16 pound Turkey,  cleaned it, basted it and threw it in the Oven at 325 and let it cook for 4 hours.
.
.
My Honey whipped up a pot of Mashed Taters and Butternut Squash and Gravy !!
.
.
Some Cranberry Sause and Butter and we are set for late lunch !
.
After Prayers we enjoyed a Delicious Lunch !
.
I then sent my Honey to her recliner while I did all the dishs, put away all the left overs and cleaned up the kitchen !
.
I put the turkey on a platter, I then took 4 large paper towels and wet them in water, covered the turkey with wet paper towels, this keeps the turkey moist when you slice up meat!
.
I did fix up a plate full and take it down to our elderly neighbor George, he was speechless at the size of the plate of fresh hot food,  George usually has Hot Dogs or a canned meat for his meal or Cereal !
.

.
Rest of day spent in recliner digesting all this food!!!!!

Stormy Weather

We went from 43 degrees and rain this morning to heavy winds and Snow and Zero visability, we were going to drive up to Lowville but they have advised no unnecessary travel so we stayed home.
We spent a quiet day.
.
.
I worked on my 2 Jade Plants repotting them and reshaping  them.
.
.
Plants redone and reshaped while sitting here watching it snow and blow outside !
.
.
Looking out the window you can barely see the storage building and Bird Feeders due to blowing snow !
.
.
A stormy day is also a good day to clean equipment, I cleaned and restrung the Dobro and Mandolin !!
.
.
While I stay busy My Honey is on her laptop checking out new shoes for me, we buy somethings right off JC Penny and ZAPPOS sites.  I but and replace what with the same thing I have that way I knw they fit and I like them !
.
.
We both like to cook so who ever gets to the kitchen first cooks !!!!
.
Wind and blowing snow is terrible, Everything is closing or being cancelled.
.

.
They are clearing out an Emergency Path for the building.  They do this after every snow storm !
.
It will be a quiet night tonight, will play Qwarkle after dinner !!!!!

Treasure

I am the Family Record Keeper, I have all the Photos and History of the Wood, Jones, Whitford Family going back years, also photos,  well I got a nice treat and now have a picture of my Great, Great Grandfather.
.

.
The above is The Tannery in 1891 in Edwards,  The men from left to right are Charles Clark, Pascoe Whitford*(MY GG Grandfather), Elgin Maine, (Cousin), William Brigham who was also an Artist,  William and Noel Royse and George Nettles!
.
.
Above is my Grandfather Silas Wood,  My Grandfather Bower Whitford and my Great Uncle Milo Wood.   My Father John Wood was not Born yet and my Mother Ehtel Whitford was also not born yet but these two would become Father in laws later in life!.
.
.
Another picture, 2nd from left is my Grampa Silas Wood, his brother Milo Wood, My Grandfather Whitford and David Jones at the Tannery!
.
.
This was the Tannery they worked in Tanning Hides for Leather !
.
.
Grampa and Uncle Milo !
.
.
This picture has my Grandfather in back row on right side, My Uncle Milo, My cousin David Jones, several of the Hall Men,  these men cut pulp wood for the Paper Mill.
.
.
This is in 1901, Milo and William Woodcock and Edwin Durham bringing out logs in South Edwards!  Notice the size of the logs,  Milo Woodcock was a Rich man, he traveled all over cutting off Timber and selling it to sawmills !
.
It is nice when you receive such treasures as these old photographs.    Sadly not many future generations are interested in having them passed down.

A RIDE!

We felt good enough to go outside, warmly dressed and go for "A Ride".    We love our rides, we talk, look for sights and relax.
.
.
The lower unit with 2 yellow bird feeders is our unit here at west side,  far left is Bedroom,  windows are not covered with a screen as we took it off, it plugs with snow, ice and rain and terrible to see through.
.
.
Our first sighting was a nice flock of Turkeys feeding.
.
.
We saw about 4 dozen Wild Turkeys !
.
.
The Deer and Turkeys will sometimes eat together if enough snow and not a lot of food !
.
.
Turkeys are good short flight birds !      Not very graceful but can still elude a Fox or Wolf !
.
.
The deer were out feeding, this was up towards Copenhagen where a couple farmers throw out some feed for them !
.
Well, Home relaxing, both see Doctor tomorrow !!!!      Don't forget our Veterans !!!

Relaxing

We are both feeling better, but we are not going to enter any "Foot Races" !     we are taking it easy !   Tonight was our new Board Game sent to us from Anna Maes sister out in Oregon!
We are playing Qwarkle !!!  It takes some thinking, we thought it would be an easy game BUT it makes us have to use our Brains !!!
.
.
We opened the Game, set it up and breezed thru it, after all it says suitable for age 6 and up,  Sadly we didn't read the directions all the way thru and we were playing Wrong !!!!!!
.
.
So, after Anna Maes sister told and explained to us how to play, it now is just 1 game in the evening !!!
.
We have LOTS OF SNOW !
.
.
This is this Morning, this is the 2 gas grills and the picnic table, we got about 3 feet of snow !!!
.
.
The poor old cold KIA buried, we have not left the house for several days.     We are just relaxing. and trying to get better !
.
Now all we have to do is wait for a few days and it is forecast to warm up from 7 above Zero right now to go up to 45 degrees and RAIN !    Oh Boy !!!   From a Blizzard to Floods.  Love this New York State changing weather !
.
Stay Warm Everyone!    Hope it is a Great Superbowl Weekend,    I don't even know who is Playing this year, we only watch the last part of the Game if it is a close score !
