The VFW and the American Legion marched up to Monument Park this morning in Carthage for the program for Memorial Day !

Cold Again

Well, we had some nice weather, it was warm cozy and nice to be outside, Yesterday I went to Watertown and Played for a Funeral at 1PM for the Father of some of our Friends,  It was cool out and about 70 an sunny !

.

This morning we got up and it was 41 degrees, in the Mountains it was only 36 and some places had Snow flurries!!

.

We hustled off to the Cemetery as there was a burial at 10AM of our friends Father, he was a Korean War Veteran,  91 years Old and had spent the last year in a Nursing Home.  We joined the Family and paid our respects.

.

.

Thankfully is was between a light Spitting of Snow and also some Rain !  We were lucky here as there was Not a Frost here in Deferiet, being near the river it missed us but some areas did get a heavy frost !

.

There was some frost more in the Meadows and open areas !

.

Hoping it is gonna warm back up after this last Full Moon Cold Snap, This full Moon is the "Flower Moon" because flowers come into Blossom and on June 24th it will be a Strawberry Moon according to the Old Farmers Almanac !

Car Show 5/26

 We held another Car Show tonight and a New Camera was purchased by the American Legion for Photos so I tried it out, it has all the Bells and Whistles on it, probably to many for me !

Above the girls sell raffle Tickets, 10 dollars for the length of the Vehicle in Tickets for Prize Drawings !

A Nice crowd, it spit some rain and a pretty good wind so cars were down but we raised a nice sum of Money for Scholorships for Legion Kids plus $100.00 for the 50 -50 drawing !

Outside work !

 We have been enjoying these Hot Days but do enjoy when it cools back down to the mid 70's !

.

We have the Impatients planted and the Moss Rose planted, I trimmed the Rose Bush and now just watching it !  The red hanging Fucchia Plant is growing nicely !

.

The side 2 Rose Bushs have been trimmed and thinned out !  I only got stabbed 4 or 5 times on the Arms from the Thorns !

.

We moved the Fire wood pile out by the Fire/Cooking Pit, got our reclining chairs out, we are ready for some evening Camp Fires now that we no longer go camping ! We talked about buying a Camper again but thought better about it after Praying over it and discussing it !  I don't want the stress that usually goes with it but ya really never know what is gonna happen and ,"Plans change" !

We enjoyed an evening of going out for Bull Heads tonight,  we got 3 orders of Bullheads, Macaroni Salad and Salt Potatoes and went to Anna Mae's Mothers in Castorland for Dinner !

American Legion Car Shows

 I have been asked to Post something on our American Legion Post 789 Activities,  SO OK !!  Every Wednesday Night our American Legion has a Classic Car Show "Weather Permitting"  from 5 to 8PM.  We have had one for years now !

Our first car show we had we only had 11 local people, mostly Legion Members show up for the Show and over the years it has grown !

We had Vehicles from Boonville, NY to Star Lake, NY!

Above is Commander Dr. Janice Gravely, PhD our first female Post Commander in 101 years of being an active Post with 1st Vice Commander Dick Simmons who started these Car Shows and Went around and collected door prizes !

There is a 50 -50 Raffle, and every Hour prizes are given away,  we now have a large field of Companies who send up products to give away, Companies from California, Texas, and our Local Area and the Prizes are very nice !

.

Each Vehicle  that enters the Show is Given a Ticket with their Number on it for Prizes!

.

Long Time Legion Member Tim checks every Car that enters and Wednesday Night the 19th we had ***(((103))) Classic Cars, Trucks, Wreckers, and a Military Jeep show up !

We wander thru the Vehicles selling raffle tickets from 5PM till 7:45 and there is lots of Prizes given away !

We have a "Food Truck" for Hot Dogs and Burgers and drinks on site and we are near a Dunkin Donuts and 2 large food stores, ALDIS and P an C !

Someone we don't know who "Flew" over the Car Show with a Para Sail and a Motor on his back and circled the area twice causing a lot of "WOWS" !

.

Dick and his helpers sell Tickets, call out winning ticket numbers and give away these Prizes to some of the 103 Vehicle owners or Visitors who wander thru looking at Cars !

This was my favorite of the evening, a nice little 2 door, 1955 ford, robin eggs blue,  had one just like after high school but mine was red and white,  oh the Memories !

.

.

 The end of the Night, 7:45PM we drew the 50-50 winner,  $240.00 Dollars raised for the 50-50 drawing and over all a quick cound of the Money on other Item Raffles and gifts we raised almost $500 dollars for our American Legion Scholarship Program.  Next Car Show weather Permitting will be next Wednesday !
