New Instrument

Was looking at Items for Sale, I found this Guitar, an Electric Guitar about a month or 2 ago, I liked the looks of it so I went ahead and contacted the seller on it,  he said it was still for sale so I went and looked at it and I bought it !!
.
.
I am in the Cellar trying out the pickups and then gotta strip it down and clean it and put new strings on it and all set to go !
It is a nice Fender, Triple pickup, had a Bigsby Tail piece with Tremelo  and the little Electric Amplifier with it was nothing great but I have 3 Amps and with this one I have 4 !!    3 Guitars, (Acoustic Electric) (Dobro) and 2 Mandolins .
.
.
I am cleaning and putting new strings on these Instruments at West Side Terrace in the Conference room  before we moved into our New (Old) House,  now I have lots of room to spread them out !
Well the Cat, Tipper is yeowling for some food and attention:
.
She is looking for a Treat I hid in the Cat House !!!

Tipper

A Month ago we decided we would get a cat,  we talked about it when we moved out of Senior Housing and bought our New (Old) House !
.
We checked with the SPCA and they wanted to first meet us, then we had to get and pay ahead for a Vet, then meet the Cat we wanted,  Anna Mae wanted a Calico and we found one in Oswego, 75 Miles away, we called them and they wanted $70.00 for "Adoption Fee" for us to pick up the Cat!
.
We have an Orange Cat here who is Fat, well fed and wanders the area in the summer here and I think everyone feeds it.
.

.
Don't know how friendly it is as it runs when I approach it !!
.
Well a lady called us and said she had a 7 month old cat, we could have her, she was afraid the cat would trip her up and she could fall. She said she was spayed, had all her shots and she was a house cat so we talked it over and went and got her,  Her name was "Tippy",  I said she looked like a "Tipper" !   What a Hoot she has turned out to be !!!
.
.
The corner of the Living room near the covered Chimney, under the floor is the Furnace exhaust pipe so the floor is always warm there where the run is, this was the corner she wanted.
.
.
WELL,  I wanted her to have a Castle, so To AMAZON we checked and ordered one and in 3 days it arrived, simple instructions to put it together with an Allen Wrench and "Bingo" , all done and set up for her !  She had to Investigate it, smell it and look it all over !  Kind of like "Stormy" you read about on Jack Darnell's Blog "Shipslog" at
http://shipslog-jack.blogspot.com/  .
.
Tipper had to finally jump up and explore the platform and scratch posts on it and smell more of it !
.
.
As you can see this 8 Month Old Feline is log, slender and can she ever Jump !  My Honey plays with her every night, now we have a 3rd body in our Bed,  She has found out sleeping at the foot of the Bed is her place and she does after we go to bed !
.
.
She follows My Honey all over the House !!!
.
We will see what happens after Winter and if she wants to go outside !

Well, we went to the Hospital at 8PM, Met a nice Nurse who checked me in send my Honey on her way back home and then she started hooking me up with Wires, clips and gauges and clips,  She drew lines on my old bald head where she attached wires into the scalp neck, back, chest.
.
.
The Bed where I am going to try to sleep, there on the bed are some of the wires !
.
.
Nice room private bathroom, Cable TV, a Fan,  a Camera and speakers and it was nice and cool !
.
.
Wired for, Eye blinks, breathing thru nose or mouth, Heart Rate, leg movements,  got there at 8PM and at 9PM I was wired  up and put in bed !!!    Light out !
.
.
At 5AM they woke me up, My Honey was there with fresh Coffee, this is some of the wires and straps  and clips they put on me and monitored me with,  I left and took my Honey out at 5:30AM for Breakfast of Bacon and Eggs !!!!
.

Sleep Time

Tonight I am ready for a trip to the Hospital for a Sleep Apnea Test,  I had one about 20 years ago and found I didn't need to wear Oxygen at night.  Well,  tonight I go find out if I do now !
.

.
This is the harness and wires and tape that you wear and are hooked to, then you get in bed in the Hospital, hooked to Monitors, the lights are turned out and then turned on again several times,  then the lights go out and you are supposed to sleep, my last test started at 7PM, I slept maybe for 1 hour and was up at 5AM !
.

.
This is what they are looking for in the study !   I have already done one test last week, I wore a finger/wrist monitor to check my Oxygen Intake levels all night while I slept. they will be used with this test !
.
Time to get ready, 7PM and I have to be at Hospital at 8PM !!

Our Home

Our house was unique, My Dad built our house, he started building it around 1925, He had help from his Relatives, he cut the logs, shaped them and laid them up then chinked they ! This was done during the "Great Depression, My father worked for Northern New York Utilities, they operated small Hydro Electric Power Plants generating Electricity,  My dad while building the house lived with his Grandmother, Addie, His Grand Father John who he was named after passed away at age 44.
.
.
This above is my Grandpa Silas and Great Grandpa John, My Dad, Mother, Brother John and Jim lived with Dads Grandmother Harriet Adeline who was called Addie,  My Mother had not a good word to say about her, and when she did speak of her it was bitter.
.
.
My Dad John and my Brother John about 1930 at the John Wood Farm in Shawville where Dad and Mom Stayed till Dad Finished building the Log Cabin.
.
.
The Farm of my Great Grandfather John and Great Grandmother Harriet, (Addie) !  My Grandpa is there, Silas, the farm was in Shawville. My folks lived here for a couple years with Addie.
.
My Great Grandmother Harriet, (Addie), Brother John, Father John and Grandfather Silas, 4 Generations photo !
.
.
My Brother Joh, My Brother Jim and my Sister Janice in the high chair, This would be about 1936, My Dad and Mom moved into the Log Cabin even though it was not done as Mom was adamant they moved in !  You can see the stone wall my Dad and helpers laid, the hand poured cellar walls !
.
.
My Mom, John, Jim Janice in the front of the house, you can see the logs, steps and the chinking between the logs.
.
.
Same place but another Picture, showing Dad's Ford !
.
.
My brother Jim, Harold Jones who was a Carpenter  and who helped Dad build his House and my Mother sitting behind the wheel of this I think 1930's Ford.
.
.
The end of the House showing the Cellar walls, Laid Up logs and chink and the Cedar Shingles that covered the ends and front porch of the house !
.
.
The folks did a good job of raising 8 of us in the Old Log Cabin, there were only 3 Bedrooms in it, Mom and Dads, 1 for the girls and the upstairs loft for the Boys.  Sadly I miss John, Donnie and Janice who have passed on !

Quiet Day

Quiet Day today, didn't get outside at all !  Last Night we went to Church and made a Great Meal for our Group of "Closer Walk, "Vid de Cristo" and "Walk to Emmaus", we had over 2 dozen people there !  I was dressed with enough clothes an could barely move as the temperature outside was only 5 above zero!!!!
.
The Menu was awesome !
.
We started out with a Group Prayer, then served Coffee and Orange Juice and conversation at 5PM !
.
.
We then at 5:30 PM served up Scrambled Eggs, Pancakes, Vension Sausage and Thick Slab Bacon and lots of it and lots of Butter !
.
.
Pancakes and Bacon need Maple Syrup and we had Dark, Amber and Light Maple Syrup for everyone and even a bottle of Aunt Jamima for those who wanted it !
.

.
After our Monthly gathering and meal and clean up we then had Music,  My friend Dan, a retired High School Music Teacher and I played Guitars for everyone to sing different songs !
.
Weather has been COLD, This morning it was -10 below zero and that is enough to keep me inside !    Quiet day for me, Anna Mae went and took her mother shopping,  I know my Mother In Law is Tougher than I am, she is 86 with a birthday coming up, she moved up here this summer after living in Florida for 25 years and goes outside with just a coat, she out walks My Honey in the store and she has to tell her to slow down, She lugs and carries her own Groceries into her Apartment.  She cooks for her and others !
.

.
My Mother in Law was a Waite, she came from a family of 17 Children!  They have lost 2 members of the Family and all 15 are close and still going strong  !
.
Going to be a quiet evening, I was supposed to Play tonight at the Nursing Home but due to sickness can't so will be home with my Honey inside where it is warm !

Memories

Sunday, Cold, went outside to go to Church and forgot to put on a mask and that was a mistake, we got about 8 to 10 inches of snow and bitter cold, It is hard to breathe in these Temps so I wear a Mask, I made it to Church, good Service and good message !  We had a frozen pipe and water leak in the Parsonage last night but lucky it drained right into the basement and not much damage, lucky our Interim Minister knew where to shut off the water and the number to call for emergency plumber we have !  God is Good !
.
So home this afternoon, have to take it easy so went thru some old pictures whch I like doing !  One of my favorites is the Farm, Oh what nice Memories they hold !
.
Besides the Horse Barn and Cow Barn and Silo was the Buggy Barn.  Inside the buggy barn was a Cedar Board closet and inside it was a Beautiful Black Horse drawn Surrey complete with the Fringe on top and a Buggy Whip !  We would sit in it and pretend we were on a stage coach and whoop and Holler until Gramp or Grandma would come in and put the run on us !
.
.
This Surrey Grampa said came with the Farm and was one of his prized Possessions, I was in High School when I remember my Dad saying the Buggy had been Stolen from the Farm,  It was sold for $ 100.00 dollars !
.
The other thing parked in the Buggy Barn was the Old Buick Grandpa Had, It had a wooden steering wheel, spoked wheels, spark advance and throttle levers on the steering column, there were curtains in the back and running boards and  we would sit in it and pretend we were driving all around while smoking Pipes with Gramps Old Growler/Granger Pipe Tobacco !
.
.
.
Gramp, Grandma and Clyde Masterson ! Sad to think I was in High School and came home and learned from talking with my Dad Grandpa sold the Buick for $250.00 Dollars !
.
.
.
.
.
.
Grandma Wood worked on the Farm my Dad said just like Grandpa Did !!    She was in the Barn Yard near one of the Horses when the Horse grabbed my Grandma by the Left Shoulder and lifted her off the ground, the Bite was severe, My Dad said my Grandpa who was a small framed man picked her up, carried her to the House and sent my Dad crosslots to get her Brother who came over and treated her,  They were tough people !
.
Horses were a big part of my growing up and spending time on the Farm !  Sweet Memories on this cold winters Night !

Winter time is my least Favorite Time of the year,  it is cold, I mean Bone Chilling Cold sometimes, this morning it was - 4 below zero, thankfully I am inside ,  I hire the Snow Removal, have a nice young man who comes and cleans the driveway !  I used to like winter, now I just get thru it, I was born in the Winter in February,  My Dad said it was the worst weather, there was feet upon feet of snow that fell when I was born !
.
.
Me in February, I got my Roy Rogers gun bels and holster on holding my "6 Shooter" !
..

.
This is the Wood Boys, Ronnie, John, Roland, Jim, Donnie and me on the right side, Our house was covered in Cedar Shakes and stained. Sadly have lost Brothers John and Donnie !

January Calm

Well, right now we are in the January Calm, There is hardly any Snow,oh there is a small pile here and there from someone plowing out a driveway but not around our house, The Temperature was 54 degrees and rain so "Good-Bye Snow for right now, but it will be back !
.
.
Way in the Back is a small strip of Snow, not much !  The Christmas Bulbs in the picture are now taken down, coiled, labeled where they go and stored in the Garden Shed on the right !
.
So, one might ask, what does one do in mid January when there is plans for going riding on a "Snowmobile" which I do not like, never did !
.
My Neighbor loves to ride his Machine and this is how he usually rides it out back!
.
.
This is my Idea of a "Snow Machine", enclosed, heated, soft seats and quiet and smooth riding, I have ridden in similar to these dragging the "Sno Mobile Trails" to smooth and make them easier to ride, this business up here is big and brings in lots of money in gas, food and lodging, except this year it has hurt local snow mobile trail stops !
.
.
This is some of the Machines in Old Forge, New York up in the Adirondacks, it is not unusual to see a hundred of these traveling down a Trail !
.
.
Another way we beat the winter doldrums is looking at pictures and wondering where we were, what we were doing ? Above we are sharing a Bottle of Sparkling Apple Cider we brought down from New York to Okeechobee Florida !
.
.
We could not figure out this Picture until we realized it was taken over on the Peace River in Arcadia Florida when we walked back on a sand trail into the bush and came upon this little area, no idea who or why it was there as there is no houses or places around it !
.
.
This picture there was no question, we were walking the Brim over at Okeechobee Florida !
.
.
I caught her "Flirting with this Guy" !
.
.
We finally realized this one was taken in North Carolina at a Battlefield, we can't remember which one !
.
.
Above was at the Seminole Indian Reservation at a Rodeo!
.
.
And here in My Honey  with her Favorite, Willie Nelson up in Nashville !
.
.
And here I am with my Favorite in Myrtle Beach !!!
