Life in a Freezer

 Well, it is Winter, and it is cold, so far our Temps have been Dangerous !!!

This Morning, (Wednesday) it was - 14 Below Zero,  That means I do not leave the house !!!   Too Dangerous !!

.

  

.

Last week it was all the way down to 30 degrees Below Zero,  Those days are stay home !!!  Stay Safe !!!  We are Blessed we can stay home and not have to go anywhere,  we make suer we are well stocked as don't see much of the Neighbors.

The House next door we used to live in 15 years ago has been Sold, Nice lady bought it and is going to remodel it so it is Her way !! .

.

.

 The Wife met the new neighbor while they were out shoveling off the sidewalks !   The Temps had warmed up to about - 5 Below so they were outside !

.

We got a lot of Snow in a Short period of time,    Saturday Night besides really cold Temps we got 17 Inches of Snow !  So Much Snow that Sunday Morning we Cancelled Church as there was 20 Inches of Snow in the Parking Lot !

Winter an MLK Day

 Today is a Holiday, MLK Memorial Day !  Banks, Mail, Public Offices Closed.   Oh well, we got over A FOOT OF SNOW !    I stayed inside all day as it was COLD !!!!    I posted Videos so click on them to watch them !

Plows been out Plowing Snow,  we have so far gotten over a foot of Snow and it is Cold !

Our Neighbor Barry came over and Snow Blowed a foot of snow out of the driveway and the entrance had about 16 inches of snow the Plows pack in !

We got thru today's Storm, now it's just gonna dip down and get Colder again,   Below Zero Temps Tomorrow !

Holy Moley

"Holy Moley" was one of my Dear Fathers expressions when he would hear something that was surprising or shocking !  We are in for a cold Snap and it has started,  we left this morning and pulled out of the Garage at just 21 degrees, we drove to Watertown and in 25 minutes the Temp had dropped to 15,  After my Honeys appointment with the Eye surgeon we left and stopped for Eggs at the Farm and the Temp was at 13. Right now it's 11 degrees !!!

JEFFERSON COUNTY, N.Y. (WWTI) — A previous wind chill watch has been upgraded in Jefferson and Lewis counties. Winter Storm "Izzy", which is expected to bring snow, damaging ice and strong winds as it moves across the country.

The National Weather Service has officially issued a wind chill warning for the two counties, which will take effect on Friday.  Our wind chill is gonna be - 40 below zero,  If outside, be sure to cover all exposed skin. Frostbite can occur within 15 minutes or less if temperatures at 25 below zero or colder.

The "Cold" is sure making lots of Ice Cycles on the edge of the roof !

Some places we are up to 4 inches of Ice where it has frozen over !

One important part of Winter is the need to make a "Snow Angle" as pictured above !!!!!!  It's supposed to be a good Omen for winter !

It's important to keep doors shoveled out so the can be opened during the winter !  Temperature is still dropping as its now only 9 degrees !

.

.

The LP Gas Heater in the Cellar is cranking out the Heat, Have it set on 5 and cellar is nice and warm !

.

.

Feeders are filled and our special visitors came in, a Pair of Cardinals, someone letting us know there OK and watching over us !

.

.

The Neighbor Willie bundled up cleaning put his driveway, Willie is over 80 years old !

.

It's time for my NAP as it's 3PM.   Pork Loin Cooking in Crock Pot for Dinner !

Snow an More Snow

Well, Winter has settled in, Mother Nature started Snowing early this Morning and it is still Snowing tonight at 7:30PM,  We now have over a foot of Snow here in Deferiet !

While My Honey was outside, I was getting our "Springer Mountain Farms" Chicken ready for the Crock Pot for our Dinner !

Steps are shoveled and I have a Heating Pad on my back  !

.

.

The worse part of cleaning out the Driveway is as soon as it is cleaned out the "Plow" comes back and fills the entrance back in again with snow.

.

.

While laid up with my sore back My Honey went out and also cleaned and filled the Bird Feeders !

.

. 

Neighbor across the street came over and cleared out front entrance to driveway after plow went thru !!

.

.

Our Neighbor Willie, he is out for the second time cleaning out his Driveway,  Willie is over 80 years Old and has some Heart Issues but keeps plugging along !

.

. 

We had a "Visitor" come back again, We have several pairs of Cardinals, Red Males and Pale Gree Females that come to the feeders !  They tell that a Cardinal that comes to your feeders is the "Spirit" of a departed Family Member or Close Friend Visiting you and letting you know everything is OK !

.

.

Finally Dinner is ready,    Springer Mountain Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Acorn Squash, Cranberry Sause and Corn Bread and my Glass of Root Beer.    Good Mess !!!

Supposed to be done Snowing for the Day about 10 or 11 PM tonight.

St. Francis is still above the Snow as are his Solor Lights !!!!!

Bitter Cold

 WoW,  It was cold this Morning, thankful we have 4 to 5 inches of now !!!

.

. 

Our first of what I believe will be many below Zero Mornings or Days ,  This is a little early for this year as usually these days of below Zero come in February !

.

.

It was a cold day so My Honey went to the Kitchen and started making a Stew  !  Frying Pan of Venison, pot of Small home grown potatoes, carrots and some celery and Onions cooked in Beef Stock.     Let it simmer all day on low and then shortly make a dish of "Johnny Cake"  or corn bread !

.

.

Kitchen was warm and smelled great, Temps outside were about 5 degrees. right now at 7:30PM it is -2 BELOW ZERO.

.

.

Dinner was hot, delicious Venison Stew and warm buttered Johnny Cake and a glass of Root Beer ! 

.

.

 Later tonight it was a nice big dish of Ice Cream and Hershey's Chocolate Syrup !

Changing green to white !

Yesterday, the 1st we were outside, standing around in Green Grass around the fire pit.  Today the Fire Pit is covered in 5 inches of Snow at 2PM !!!

Village of Deferiet came thru several times, first time they come thru they Plowed the street and with the side wing are supposed to "Wing" it back, for some reason, $$$$$$$$ they come thru sometimes twice or 3 times plowing where they already just plowed ??????

First Trip thru moving some Snow out of the road but Not winging it back !

We got some more Snow and the Other Neighbor came up and did the driveway again.

My Honey got the "Sno Joe" and cleared off the Deck when she got home from Church,  Today she did the Service for the Minister as it was his Day to be off !

A Beautiful Red Cardinal came Visiting while it was quiet.

.

.

I am still sore, hard to move around but back is "Healing" !  Hope it slows down on the Snowing !!!
