Holidays

 Well, we have gone thru Halloween and had a swarm of monsters, bums, angels, supermen, and what not come to the door for Candy,  it was fun !

Moving onto the Next Holiday after Veterans Day we had Thanksgiving !

.

Grandson and My Honey, his Grandmother, he was working delivering meals from where he works .

.

Children, Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren gather, missing was the son and the Son in Law and a Grandson in the picture !

.

Me, Daughter, Grand Daughter, Great Grand Son and Great Grand Daughter.  My 4 Generations !

Us enjoying a Great Turkey Dinner with all the fixins !!!!

My Honey not waiting for our 2nd Christmas in our now just "Old House" as it does not qualify for a "New Old House" so she is putting up the Christmas Tree an starting the inside Decorating !

.

Tree is up and I am fixing a Bulb, These miniture lights are not inter changeable, I had to take out the bulb and holder, remove the bulb and rethread another good bulb into the fitting and put it back in !!

.

My Brother in Law in Florida had contacted Covid and is pretty sick, he is only 66, he has a hard time breathing and is weak, he does has his own business and does Home Inspections and is now off work !  His wife is not sick yet !

.

Blessings

 Yesterday was indeed a day of "Thanksgiving" !   I have so much to be Thankful for I could not possibly list it all here !   Church, Family, Friends, Home, Neighbors, and so much more !!!

Cooked this nice store brand 24 Pound Turkey for My Mother in Law and her 2 brothers and My Honey and I, we went to Senior Citizen Housing in Castorland and ate at 2 PM in her Apartment !!!      Great Meal, Great Desert and Conversation !

.

I had a Piece of Real Pecan Pie, it was shipped up from Georgia just for Thanksgiving and man oh man was it good !

.

Today was a day of Rest as the Grands come for Supper tomorrow at 4PM !   

.

Bust

We are staying busy, We went to the Doctors this Morning for My Honeys Eye appointment.  The checkup was good, the Doctor came in and checked on her and then took the Stitch in her left eye, It was so tiny but you could just see it in the Tweezer like thing he used to pull it  from her eye,  she now is on just 2 types of drops 3 times a day for a while with another appointment in 3 weeks.  20 -40 Vision in Both Eyes now !     YAHOO !!!!!!

Birds are coming to her "Pumpkin Feeder" ! an the Deer are still coming into the Back Yard, It is hunting season and they know they are safe there !

.

If you look close you can see this Little Doe up the road feeding on the old Paper Mill Site !

.

.

The Wife grabbed a photo of me as I took a break from settling into my music corner in the New Old Houses Basement and tuned up and played for a while !

.

.

My New Work area, I moved it over from the Music Area and set up there !

.

.

All the things I need this winter, Paints, Dremel Stains,  Nuts Bolts and Screws and Misc. right next to my Work Table !

.

.

The "Winter Pantry" is pretty well stocked for the Winter,  It has helped with number of Grocery Shopping Trips into town !

.

.

The Garage Freezer is stocked and all that is Lacking is some fresh Venision !   The Weber Charcoal Grill  has been moved to the Garden Shed and Gas Grill ready for winter Grilling !

.

This and That

 Well, It's sunny and 41 degrees this morning so I headed down stairs to Putter around in our Newly Painted Old Basement in our still New to us Old House !!!  I worked some more on the "Music Area" !

.

.

I went from this cleaned, painted area to this carpeted area being set up to get back to Playing and Singing !

.

.

This is just a start to what I plan for this area,  It will keep me busy and will be a good place to entertain company !

.

.

Right to the left of my stool I need to put up a shelf,  I do not like drilling and putting in Lags then screwing in a bracket as my lags always fall out after sitting things on the shelf !  We will see where we go with the shelving !

.

.

My Honey wants a "Pumpkin Bird Feeder",  SO, I cut off the top of her Pumpkin, scooped the guts out, strung some baling twine thru it and Bingo,  A Happy Woman !

.

.

You know the old saying, "If Momma ain't Happy, Nobody Gonna Be Happy" !   Here she is after she filled her Pumpkin and made sure it was what she wanted !

.

.

It is cool out so we worked on the Lights on the back deck !

All is Quiet

 All is fairly Quiet up here, we have had some Beautiful fall weather, Temps in the 70's, Hunting Season in Full Bore.  Our Christmas Lights are Done unless we decide to put up some more on the rear Deck !

.

.

We tested the Lights and there gonna look great but not turning them on now !

.

We have a nice little Restaurant down the road from us about 2 minutes away out on the main road,  The "Whistle Stop" is a former Bowling Alley and Bar, it was very busy during the Paper Mill heyday of over 600 employees. It closed down for a few years and finally reopened last year.  Tonight we ordered dinner from there, we ordered Ribs, Beans, Mac an Cheese, Coleslaw, Hot Sause and Corn Bread, and it was delicious !

This was just 1/2 of the order we shared.  The rest went in the Frig for later.

I am in a sweat shirt and my honey in a T shirt, these Blood Thinners really work thinning the Blood !

.

Dinner over, News is done, We are having a large breakout of Covid 19 around here which started back up from a "Church" Baptism and a large crowd of about 100 people gathered up in Croghan.   Schools closed and kids learning on line with computers !

.

I hope is stay away from me and my Family !

.

Well, Time to head for the Basement and work on some projects  I want to get started !

Busy, busy, busy.............

 Well we sure have been busy !     We had 2 men come Friday and work on the Old Boiler getting it ready to take out of the basement.  Saturday Morning 6, (six) men arrived with a large pad and a Hand Cart, they locked the Old Boiler onto the cart, laid the pad down on the 10 cellar steps, harnessed up 2 to pull and 4 to lift and slowly and gradually up and out the old big heavy Boiler came us the stairs, out the door, down into a large heavy duty trailer.  They didn't want any Pictures taken of them working !

Well as the weather is nice we went outside and Put up Christmas Lights, working in T Shirts and it was beautiful !

.

I strung the lights on the front with help from my Honey, Beautiful day !

.

.

I had to put the lights up and "very carefully" climb the ladder for the top part,  the lights were pretty well "squared away"  on the front of the house.

.

.

We have a weather station in the House, I have the Transponder sending Unit out on the Street Utility Pole,  I wanted to make sure Batteries were good  and it was nicer to change them on a Nice 70 degree sunny day that in a Blizzard.

.

.

Was easy to change Batteries in Unit so glad that was done !

.

Time to reboot, ( Recliner and a Nap in the Sun) !!!!

Boilers

 Well, Cellar Painted except for the floor,   The old Boiler sitting there next to the Brand New "Utica Boiler" newly installed and working well !  Fires electronically so no Pilot Light,  I did like the Pilot Light as there was always Heat on top of the Boiler and exhaust pipe !  Helped warm the cellar !

This is also a "Utica" I thought Boiler, but upon taking it apart found it is an old one !

.

This is a "Utica Radiator" Boiler !   This Unit was made around 1928.    They changed their name in the 40's to Utica Boiler as they bought out several smaller companies !

.

.

After taking the covers off the old Boiler the contractor showed me where the old Oil Fired Boiler "Blew Out",  on the left  side  a hole developed and a steel boiler plate was installed and stopped the leak,  on the right side the white material is a hard brittle compound I am not sure what was used,  It is brittle and it is plain there were leaks in several places !

The Boiler is heavy, The guys I hired to remove it could not make it up the stairs so they called the Company,  There is 8 Square Nuts to cut off  on each end, in the circles,   the Boiler than can be split into 3 pieces and hauled up the cellar steps.  

.

It is a Messy Job and expensive to have this old Boiler Hauled away but I do not want it left in the Basement which a lot of Houses do up here.

.

This was an "Oil Fired " Boiler Converted to Natural Gas.

.

Be glad when they come tomorrow, (Saturday) to remove it !

.

On a Happier note we got to stop for a Quick Peek at the Great Granddaughter Amelia and Granddaughter Shannon for some Nana Attention !

Keeping Busy

Well, we had a few inches of snow outside, we have chores to do outside but can't so we decided to finish up a Cellar Project !

.

.

The last area to paint and cover the Pale Green walls, so this morning we grabbed our paint brushs and got to work !

.

.

Walls are painted and look OK for a Cellar and it covered up the green !

.
