Camping

We packed up the camper and headed out, Needed to get back to nature and each other !

.
Anna Mae has been hooking and unhooking the camper, she wants to know what to do if she needs to do it on her own, she uses the tennis ball on the KIA Hitch and the Tennis Ball on the Camper, when they touch all she has to do is lower the hitch.
.
.
While my Honey unhooks I put out the Anchor and Chains an Flags.
.

.
Up goes the roof with a simple push.
.
.
Up goes the back by simply pushing it into place.
.
 .
Up goes the front and then the awning goes up with it all in one step.
.
 .
Anna Mae can set us up in 25 minutes without the awning and take it down in 25 minutes.
.
.
Anna Mae taking a break after sitting up the camper, she does great considering she has had back surgery, has a bad Si joint and receives Shots in her back for degenerative discs.
.
.
I am ready for coffee, water and electric hooked up, power on !!
.
.
Campfire going, all set up and we relaxed for 3 days up in the mountains.
.
 .
My Honey reading her Daily Devotions and Scripture !
.
.
We am chowing down Pork Steak and veggies from our garden !
.
.
I was asked where we keep everything with a small Travel camper, well, we each have have half the vehicle, the back is storage for food, ice, drinks and dry goods, camper has a freezer and fridge, microwave, air conditioning and we are set up with only what we use.
.
.
We just got back from another walk and had a great camping trip.

Desert Conditions

The weather here in Northern New York State has been dry, I mean dry to the point the Big Farmers have managed to save their Wheat Crop as it needs dry hot weather, however the corn needs water. We have not had the needed rain.
.
.
This corn is supposed to be about 4 to 5 feet tall, as you can see it is short due to no rain.
.
.
Normally this is what our Field Corn grows to, this is last years corn crop near us and it did well compared to this year, notice how green and rich it is.
.

 .
This what this years corn that is dry, most farmers have chopped a lot of it down and plowed the rest of it under, they are hoping that some rain will save the Bean Crop.
.
.
This is our living room window this morning, we got rain, I mean we got a cloudburst, we need it but just not this much so fast.
.
.
The above is the flood of water coming off the roof in the patio area and you can see the water ponding in the back.
.
.
This is the side towards the parking lot flooding from this mornings rain.
.
.
This is outside our entrance and the water is backing up and flooding the Maintenance room.
.
Now it has quit raining, it is muggy again, we had a little flash flooding and the Sun is shining, hopefully this weather pattern comes back into our Area, but am glad we are not getting the flooding and rain the south is getting.
.
.It's nice out.

Gardening !!

One thing about this hot weather is it makes the gardens grow and produce.  We have several raised bed gardens here and we plant them every year now for the past 10 years we have been here at the Old FolksHome !!
.

. We started off planting lettuce, tomatoes, beans and lots of flowers.  In other garden planted peppers for the neighbors as I can't eat peppers and cherry tomatoes.
.
.
The Garden did well, think it was lots of hot weather that did it !
.
.
Nothing beats garden fresh vegtables.
.
.
These are 1/2 hot peppers that are strong, notice them turning red????
.
.
Cherry Tomatoes and Green and Yellow Beans are delicious.
.
.
The flowers came up nicely and brought lots of bees and aroma !!
.
So far been a hot and dry summer!!!

Old Timers

Went to Lunch with a few of the former Police Officers I worked for and with, sad that we have lost so any at such a young age.  We went to lunch at the Crystal Restaurant, this is downtown and part of # 1 Beat,  all those in attendance walked these streets for years, issuing Parking Tickets, directing Traffic, making arrests, assisting people and stopping in and visiting with Business owners.
.
.
Deputy Chief Charlie (Cop) Lyttle, me, Police Photographer Leo Rutledge, Detective Mark Favret, Sgt. Fred Pennock, Patrolman John Astafan, Police Chief Joe Goss, ALL RETIRED !!!!

Great 2 hour Lunch and Coffee and nice to see a few of the Flock.
