Warm, Cold, Warm

Mother Nature is trying to make up her mind if we are gonna be wintry or warmer, we have gone from 30 below zero up to 58 degrees !!!    This might be our January Thaw we always get.

This is out our window at the neighbors raised bed garden and some snow and rain and fog, this was about an hour ago, the temps were in the 50's !

.

Same area last week covered in several feet of SNOW !  

.

I did get outside and work on filling the feeders but it was very bitter cold out !

.

.

Birds are happy, it seems when it is bitter cold and stormy the birds come in for a feast !!

.

.

We joined the Carthage retired Music Teacher and played up in Croghan at a new Church on Sunday night, we played at the Steeple View Tent Church .

.

.

We packed the Church which used to be the Adirondack Funeral Home which went out of business.

.

.

Home and stretching out the strings on a borrowed Mandolin and the Dobro as we are still playing in the Nursing Homes and Churches.

.

.

My Honey was surprised with a visit from one of her old class mates from High School who came up from Crystal Springs, Florida and they got together for lunch.

.

.

Ken and I worked together for about 15 years on the Police Force, I retired before he did !

.

.

The above picture was back about 1969, we are working the County Fair !!

Well time to go Eat Dinner,  Pancakes and Eggs for supper on this dark, damp night !

Cold, Cold and Cold !

Well, it's still cold, bone chilling cold, cold enough so that I have stayed inside and this weekend it is still gonna be below zero,  I will go out at 11AM Sunday to play at Church !.

I stayed busy cleaning and restringing  my Guitars and the Mandolin !   It a Pain in the Butt putting on new strings but well worth it for the difference in sound between old and new strings !

.

.

All restrung and a fresh coat of Special Pledge Polish and tuned up.     1 problem with new strings is that they "Stretch" and you have to retune them several times before they stay tuned !

.

Well, I am gonna go in and Play around with the Dobro and see what we can learn on it !!!!

.

HAPPY HEALTHY NEW YEAR

Another year rolls around and I can honestly say I am glad to see it come in,  I really hope to be around to see a lot of years come around.   This year we will not be going to Florida for any part of the winter.  It looks like a year for Dental Work for me.    I have been lucky but seems like I am going to need some 40 and 50 year old gold and silver fillings, crowns, and bridge work filled, fixed and repaired.  Hopefully Praying they are not that bad !

We had a Great New Years Eve, I was in bed at 10;30PM,   Oh Well, I have seen a lot of midnights and do like my sleep!

I got up early and prepared a nice 8 pound Prime Rib for our New Years Dinner !  The big kettle on the stove is not for cooking, the humidity in the apartment is only 25% so we boil salt water and try to raise the Humidity up to 45 to 50% so our skin is not so dry!
.

.

I trimmed some fat, rubbed the boneless prime road down with some fresh garlic and salt and pepper and sprayed it with Butter Pam to get a good crusty seared cover.

.

.

Final touch is fresh store bought green onions on the top and ready to cook at 450 degrees for 35 minutes,  then turn heat down to 350 degrees and cook for 1 hour and 15 minutes for medium rare.

.

.

All Done, 1 perfect Prime Rib,  and it was delicious.

.

.

 We used to cook 4 lobsters, couple pounds of Shrimp and have this on New Years Eve but this year we went for Prime Rib !

.

We are getting hammered with SNOW and sub zero Temps, I mean 35 below zero,  I have a hard time breathing in this cold sub zero weather !

.

.

I have to wear a Mask to avoid the Cold air on my lungs !

.

.

We had to go out, it was a Blizzard out there, hard to see and temperature was 12 below zero !!! COLD!

.
