Well, it has been a long time since I have Posted a Blog,  I still read those Blogs and Posts of others but have not posted much  lately !!  I use facebook now and Skype ! 

Super Bowl Sunday 49

We here at the "Old Folks Home" had us a Super Bowl Party,  We planned it for 6PM with the 6:30PM kick off,  I did a superbowl pool, got Eddies Croghan Bologna and couple bags of chicken wings, everything all set for Sunday Night Football.

Then, 1 am Sunday Morning our Neighbor, 73 year old neighbor Jim who live here with his wife got up at 1am, went to bathroom and then fell over with heart attack, died enroute to hospital.
.
, We had the party anyway, Jim was a leader for card games, he helped run Bingo here, wanted to have parties and having fun instead of setting around the apartment staring at the walls.
.

Old Friend !

Well, January brings up a sad note, it was in 2010 that we made a trip to visit my long time Police Partner Mark Fuhrken, Mark was in Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Pancreatic Cancer was taking it's toll on him. We flew out of Syracuse to Dallas on an emergency Mercy Flight and we arrived in Dallas, rushed to Hospital but Mark Fuhrken passed away just before we got to his room, just a matter of minutes really, I guess the Good Lord wanted it that way.  He is still sadly Missed.

. Rest in Peace Old Friend , Your Watch stands relieved.

. My other closest friend, Mike Hart from Georgia passed away last year, he was a "one of a kind" type, always a phone call away, when I was sick once he drove up from Georgia to New York to visit me. Hard to believe they are gone,  I still have the "Memories", they will always be with me.
.

January Winter

Well it has been some time since my last Post,  we have been quietly settled in for Winter,  First I got sick for a while then I had to call 911 for Anna Mae for this Flu going around.  We have 11 people sick here with the flu and 5 in the hospital.
.

. We finally got out for a ride and rode up into Lewis County into the Mennonite area and looked for deer and to check the snow fall!
.

Merry Christmas Everyone, hope you had a great Christmas. we have been busy Doctoring with my eyes still but hopefully getting better,  We have had winter since early November and had up to 3 feet of snow,  it warmed up, lots of rain, wind and today we enjoyed a
Green Christmas!!

.Big Difference, we had the windows open today while cooking, and we had a little peeks of sunshine.
.

. We Ushered last night at our UCC Church Christmas Service at 7PM, we had our 13 year old grandson, Brent help us in handing out programs, Brent is only 13 and is going to be a big man, he helped in lighting candles and I did the Prayers on opening and then delivered the Christmas Prayer for the Church.
.

.We still have been playing for the Hospital and Nursing homes and we went over and did Christmas Carols Tuesday Night to the delight of the residents we had people from Church there helping us!!!
.

. We enjoyed Christmas Morning opening up a couple presents from the kids they sent us.
.

Later on I trimmed up a 8 pound boneless Prime Rib Roast, I cut off the end and made a nice 1 inch thick Steak to save for a January Bar B Q.   I rubbed the Roast down with Black Pepper, a little Garlic and onion powder and Kosher Salt, cooked it on 450 degrees for 1 hour, then turned heat down to 350 and cooked it for 2 hours, let it rest and we enjoyed a nice Prime Rib Dinner.

We fixed a plate s of Prime Rib, mashed potatoes, veggie and took it to one of our elderly neighbors who is all alone, we do his banking and grocery shopping.  Don't know what he will do if manage to get out of here in January to HEAD SOUTH!!!.
.
We had sa nice luncheon here at West Side and ate Ham, Salad, Mac and Cheese and was stuffed, later we founf a nice present by our door, The West Carthage Housing Authority got us all a grocery bag, flash light, calander and some candy!!!
.

.

So far so good with Health Issues for both of us, we do plan on leaving in January for the South.

.

Thankful and Red and Green Friday

We had a wonderful and Thankful Thanksgiving, we cooked our traditional Turkey and Trimmings, had a nice quiet dinner, and just relaxed.

     My eyes are healing following surgery, I stil have stitches in the left eye but vision is not so blurry as it was.
.

.We had a nice 12 pound Butterball Turkey and all the trimmings, I did the cooking on the bird and stuffing, peeled the Butternut Squash and have been doing dishes as My Honey has a cut on her hand that she can not get wet.
.

.

. We enjoyed each others company for a Thankful Day~!   It was off to the Storage Unit we rent to pick up our tree, decorations and bring them home for the Holidays and Black Friday.
.

.This is from our Storage Unit and Closet as each year we sort, give away and replace decorations.  After we decorate we run the empty boxes back to the Storage unit till we take down the decorations.

This picture  is from 2013 Christmas, this is Anna and the Grandson, This Christmas Tree traveled with us to Myrtle Beach, Florida, and couple different places we lived, It finally bit the dust and as it was a prelit tree the lights blew, I was not going to spend a few hours on it so off we went to but a replacement.

.This our Brand New Christmas Tree we got at Abuchon Hardware, it is a 4 foot pre lit tree, Just right for us, I am putting on the Top, this looks almost exactly like the top we put on our tree when I was home and 1 of the 8 kids drew straws or a card to pick who put the top on the tree.
.

.Christmas Tree is up, Lights are up in the window, we are relaxed, this is how we spent "Black Friday" !!! .

Weather sure changed!!

New York is like if you don't like the weather, just wait a while and it will change !!!.

Weather sure changed, long johns, wool socks, hat, gloves and today, sunshine, 70, t shirt and nice warm breeze and temps about 70.

Fall and Winter Mix weather.

Well we went from Fall into Fallinter, It is Fall and Winter mixed.  We started getting SNOW, and more snow and even more Snow which is unusual for Novenber.  So down came the West heavy Snow,  it came in off Lake Erie way down by Buffalo, usually we get Lake Efffect Snow off Lake Ontario,  it was an awesome early storm.

Buffalo is buried and 100 + miles of the Thruway were closed due to 4 feet of snow, it was also plugged with Cars and Trucks,  12 people died from this storm.
.

Above are side streets in Buffalo where people are stuck in their homes and can not get out!

Trying to clean out the Car, even if Car if cleaned out and unburied the Roads are not Plowed or open.

This is me, I have the mask on as I can not breathe from my COPD, the cold sucks the air out of me but our car is unburied and ready when there is streets open, we really don't have to go any where as we have our Pantry Stocked, we can survive for about a week on what we have stored up.
.
We did take some of our food upstairs to a neighbor who needed some groceries, we took him soup, canned Beet Stew, Chicken, turkey and crackers and he is happy.
.

People are frantic to get the Snow off their Roofs before it warms up and Rains Monday to prevent roofs caving in or leaking.

Everything will get more interesting as Monday it wil go up to the 60's, some rain and then....... Flooding, Roof's caving in and who knows what all ???
