CAR SHOWS

Every Wednesday during the summer till after Labor Day our Legion Post has a Classic Car Show in downtown Carthage.  All Proceeds raised from 50-50 raffles, sales, concessions go to the American Legion Scholorship Fund whereby we give out 5 $500.00 dollar scholorships, we have have been doing these car shows for a few years and have raised about $30,000 dollars.
Our prizes are all donated by manufacturers such as hats, car wax, polishing cloths and everything associated with classic or antique cars.

.
This is 1st Vice Commander Dick Simmons who has for the past years ran the Car Show and does a great job raising money, treating all entries like Kings and Queens and has so had anywhere from 65  to  100 cars and trucks, motorcycles, classic, antique and unusual vehicles.

.
Myself, Post Public Affairs officer and Historian and Finance Officer Jack Jendrewski at the Hat, Flag and sign table which goes over very well.

.
The Tent has 5 gallon Pails of prizes which are given away by ticket drawing every half hour and the 50-50 drawing which usually runs around $200 dollars to some lucky car entry.  To the right is our food vendor who gives 25% of his profit back to thelegion for us letting him sit up there.

Aw man, I love a car show. I have no idea why, but standing around a 40-50-s car, I have the best feelings. Good entry!
