Gone Camping !

Well, we went over to the Storage Unit and grabbed onto our Aliner Camper, loaded her up and headed out for a few days of camping, we both felt good, so we left for the "Tug  Hill Plateau" !
We went up to the Sugar River area and spent some time, really nice, Hot during the day up to 80 and cool nights.

I am pleased I have lost 50 pounds and have been able to keep it off!!!!! 
.

We hiked down to the Sugar River Falls in Talcottville, pretty good hike of about a mile but rough coming back UP !!!!
.
We found an old Cemetary, there were lots of old broken down stones, Civil War and Revolutionary War Stones, this is the first time I saw a repaired stone using pieces of aluminium and lag screws.  Pretty neat.

We wandered back of the Fence and this little filly came charging towards us and momma was right behind, Horse flies were terrible !!!!!

We went over to Whetstone Gulf and camped there for couple of days and it was nice.
.

My favorite part of camping is cooking, really like cooking over a wood fire !!!
.

.
Better than cooking is eating, fresh hot biscuits cooked in the fire, eggs, pork sausage, and NAVY COFFEE !!!!!!!!
.

After Breakfast time for a hiike as we both felt good, so off we went hiking the North Rim of "Whetstone Gulf" !!! 
.

The picture above is the fresh gully dug out by spring run off from the Heavy rains we had for about 3 weeks !

Lots of foot bridges to get over areas of water and also walkways thru paths of Poison Ivy and Poison Oak.
.
We were blessed as we found a large area of "Jack-In-The-Pulpits",  Arisaema triphyllum (jack-in-the-pulpit, bog onion, brown dragon, Indian turnip, American wake robin, or wild turnip)  (12–26 in) in height with three-parted leaves and flowers contained in a spadix that is covered by a hood.  A preparation of the root is used as a treatment for sore eyes. Preparations can also be made to treat rheumatism, bronchitis,the Plant was at one time protected on the endangered list, we just checked them over and left them.

We sat around the wood fire and enjoyed ourselves and we ate good and it was quiet sleeping except we were awoken in middle of night by growls, screams and brush rattles.

Up early in morning and scouted out where the screaming and Growling and thrshing came from, looks like a Bear tangled with possible a Bobcat from the looks of things !

Supper was Aspragus cooked over the wood fire and cheeseburgers with a tossed salad, delicious.
.

I brought the "Dobro" and did several songs I am going to Play for Church Services on Sunday at the Nursing Home,  it was nice, very few people, and I learned a couple of new licks on the Dobro.I
.

.
Well, this is where we sat and Talked, Prayed, did some thinking and relaxing.   Headed home to plug back in and see whats going on in the world.

DON'T FORGET, REMEMBER OUR VETS !!!

Well, we got the Camper out and Geared up, headed out for Boonville, New York and a Campsite up on the Moose River, Beautiful Spot, We left Thursdays and got set up and then went down to the Boonville United Methodist Church where there were 14 Women Pilgrims and a Team of 25 Women leading a Women's Weekend and a Kitchen Crew of about 15 people,  this is a way to bring People closer to God.  I went on walk # 89 and Anna Mae went on walk # 90, this was Walk # 111.
.
We would spent the weekend in the Kitchen preparing 3 meals a day for everyone, we started at 6AM and got done at about 8PM. We would then head back to the camper,

,   I cooked, washed dishes and waited tables, Played Guitar for singing and Gospel Hour,  then we came back to camper just before dark.

We were up at Daylight for coffee and heading back to church.

The Moose River is a Beautiful Fishing River, has some nice Trout in it and we will be back here this summer to fish!!

We got out early Saturday and came back and had a nice Camp Fire and relaxed for an evening.

We enjoyed our get away and time away from the Apartment is important.
.

We enjoyed out time together and are ready to get back to camping and fishing !!
.

Well, It is now May 8th, and it is 37 degrees and SNOWING !!!!   We have been pretty much staying home, going to play and visit at the nursing homes and sneaking in some fishing,  It is trout season but not much biting due to high and fast and cold water.  However the Bullheads are biting!!!

 They are either white bellies or yellow bellies depending where you fish, either one is great eating !! This is a Yellow Belly that runs a little bigger!

Cleaning is something you are taught at a very early age and after catching a side or back spine stuck in your hand you watch for them!!!!

All that's left, a pile of Bones, I only ate 7 Bullheads, My Honey had 4.   Delicious.

Well, Spring is almost here, we have been cold, rainy, the creeks and streams are high with water from spring run off and water is cold, Bullheads just started biting, and the trout are still sluggish but  they are out there !!
.

. 
1st trip out was on one of the few warm days,  this is the only fish caught for the day!!!!    We put him back to grow bigger !
.

.
Needed sweatshirts to stay warm, this old tree still hangs on from all the spring run offs that have eroded the roots.

.

Hopefully better weather is coming, today it is only up to 43 degrees right now !!!!
.

Set Back !

We enjoyed our long overdue trip to Florida and Myrtle Beach and North Carolina, got home and settled in to wait for the arrival of Spring, we had a terrible snow storm as you can see from my earlier post !
.

. Well, things went along fine until Sunday night, we went to bed about 10PM, I laid down and my heart started to pound,  got up and took Blood Pressure and it was sky high and my heart rate was over 120,   My honey called 911 and within 3 minutes they were at our door.
.
While talking to the 911 dispatch my honey gave me 4 baby aspirin, I chewed them up, then I took a Nitro Tab, and was loaded on a strecher.
.
I was taken to Carthage Area Hospital as fast as possible, to the ER Room, put me in a IV, pumped some Nitro Glycerine into me, and later admitted me to ICU!
.
My Heart Doctor came in, I had some medications administered, put on bed rest, I came home last night and got to sleep in my own bed!!
.
I had another Angina attack, I had my last one on November 5th or 2016 so have done pretty good.
.
Right now I am home, resting and taking it easy for a few days, It's OK as the temps outside are 8 above and it goes up to 12 degrees, we do however have nice weather coming.
.
Just gonna take it easy for a while.  Hope everyone is doing OK!!!! 
.

Holy Snow !!!

WOW !!!    We are used to getting Snow Storms, Blizzards,  usually in February and March,  however we usually don't get hammered for several days.
.

   We started getting this storm "Stella" last night, it has snowed and snowed and still coming down.  
.

Above we were standing on the Lake Okeechobee Look out down near Lakeport !

Maybe we should have stayed longer in Myrtle Beach of Florida !!!

There is lots of accidents, this was coming into Carthage, there is now a No Travel Advisory posted.  
.
They have now banned all Tractor Trailers off the Interstates and Thruway as the winds and white outs are really bad.
.

.
This is outside our Window about 25 feet away, White Outs blow in and you cannot see anything except white snow, like staring into the center of a white sheet.
.
We normally do not have frequent Cardinals visit our Bird Feeder, right now today we have several pairs flying in and out along with lots of other Birds feeding !
.

My little Honey caught me off guard, Watching it Snow and watching the Birds made me tired !!!!!!!!

Right now it is snowing and Blowing, everything is cancelled for tonight and there is also some costal flooding planned with the mid winter winds coming in !

We are tucked in nice and warm and are not planning on leaving the house tomorrow either.
.

  5 years ago we attempted to get to Florida to spend some time away from the cold,  We left Carthage and in 6 hours were in Clarks Summit, PA just off I-81where we stopped for the night, during the night I didn't feel good, My Darling wife had the good sense to pack us up and head for home.  She was a Trooper and drove us straight home.  I went directly to the Hospital with 2- 95% Blockages in the Heart which they fixed with surgery.

It seemed that every time we tried to get south for the next 5 years I  or My Honey had a Health Issue.
.
This year we went for our January check-ups at the Doctors and said, "Let's go for it", and we headed out for a trip south, we were only going to Myrtle Beach But in South Carolina we changed our minds and went to Florida and we really are enjoying it.  
.

Anna Mae and her Mother, Irene, Irene is 83 and in pretty good health.   Florida agrees with her, she moved down there 12 years ago.

 My 70th Birthday Dinner in Port St. Lucie, Florida. wanted it to be in the Florida Keys but the budget didn't cover that this time !!!  But I was with my most precious Birthday Present, My Honey !!!

I enjoyed my Visit to Florida with my Honey, enjoyed my 70th Birthday!!    I am now 7 Decades old, Who would have ever thought they would be 70 years Old when they were in their teenager years !   Well I intend to make the most of these next 20+ years or more and enjoy life, my Beautiful Wonderful Wife and "LIFE" !!!!!

Rodeo Concert

Last night we went to listen to Merle Haggard's 2 sons and his band "The Strangers". We went to the Seminole Indian Reservation  in Brighton and was let in early when I showed my Police ID and had front row seats.

These 2 young men sound just like their Daddy, Merle Haggard,   they are Ben and Noel Haggard.  what a show they put on !

After the Concert we wandered around the Rodeo Grounds, bought our tickets for Saturday and Sunday for the Rodeo, saw it 5 years ago when we were here.

I want one of these to take North to use in the SNOW, this is one of the "Mud Buggies" they use to hunt "Hogs" with. it was very loud but very easy to drive as it had an automatic transmission !!

Met a lot of Veterans here at the Show,  Enjoyed it with my honey !!

FLORIDA

Well, we made it to Florida, it was a rough trip down, 1,850 miles, we almost turned around in Virginia and went home but we pushed it a little more and spent a couple extra days on the road but we are here.

We followed many "Salt Trucks" down I-81 all the way down to Virginia and had snow scattered about all the way to Virginia!
.

Finally, we are at Lake Okeechobee having lunch and relaxing !
