Country Ride

We took a ride today to see what the roads were like to do some errands!!
.
.
We saw a nice flock of Wild Turkeys on the Andrews Road out in the Town of Rutland, might have been about 12 to 14 of them, they took off running!!
.
.
They run really fast and when they fly they are kind of slow!!!!
.
.
This was parked up to Nolt'z Mennonite Store,  They are kind of like the Amish in many ways.  This is on the Tig Hill Plateau and they got almost 30 inches of snow and we got about half that last storm.
.
.
This Horse and Buggy just left Nolt'z Store as we pulled in to do our shopping !
.
.
This Horse and Buggy with a Couple bundles up was just coming out of Lowville, the Temps were in the low 20's, road are wet from road salt, all these Horses up around here have steel Horse Shoes on summer and winter !
.
.
We got home and went out and Anna Mae Shoveled out the Doors to check the Bird Feeders !
.
.
I spread the Ice Melt to keep the ice build up down !!
.
.
Feeders filled and Fresh Suet put out for the Birds!!  All in All was a good day !!!!
.
.
Tree is up and lit, Tomorrow we take the Family out for Dinner for our Christmas Present to them !!!

Winter is Coming

Well, like I said, Winter is coming, yesterday we had green grass and temps in the 40's.  Well, Today I ended up at the Doctors Office with Angina Atacks and Breathing Problems, SO, we now have on a Nitro Glycerian o.4% Patch I wear 12 hours on and 12 hours off, and I am taking a new Drug called Prednisone.  I am very light headed if I stand up too fast, so it is slow and steady.   I had a 5 lead Heart Monitor put on for  24 hours to monitor my "Throwing PVC's".  It went on yesterday at 3PM and I took it off at 3PM today and took it back to the Lab to have it red and wait to see my Cardioligist on Monday !
.
 .
Yesterday I went outside to clean and fill the Bird Feeders, You can see some snow and also Green Grass, temps were in the 40's and not bad.
.

.
.
.
.
.
..
This was the Bird Feeders this morning,it started storming about 3 am  and reall came down, almost a foot of snow!!
.

.
Anna Mae and I coming home from the Doctors Office and we went out back and cleaned all the snow off the Bird Feeders.
.
.
It's cold, with the Blood thinner, *(Plavix) and the Aspirin and now the Nitro Patches going outside chills these old bones.

Christmas Tree up

Well, carpets cleaned, windows washed, Thanksgiving over and First Sunday in Advent.  Up goes the Christmas Tree and lights and the Manger and lights in the front window, Anna Mae was busy after church.
 .
.
I played at the Nursing home with Mark and Karl and Jacob and entertained the residents for Thanksgiving and we had a good time with the Music and visiting with the residents !
.
.
While Anna decorated I took on the unpleasant job or putting new strings on the Dobro Guitar I just picked up and gonna try to master, it does not play anything like a guitar and I stabbed myself with the end of a string and finally after an hour got all 6 strings on it.
.
.
I tried to pick out a tune but My Honey said I had better get a few lessons before I headed for the Grand Old Opry !!
.

.
I decorated our Front Door and got an "Atta Boy" for doing a good job !
.

.
Well gotta go to UTUBE and find a site that gives Dobro Lessons.

Thankful Time

Well it is Turkey Time again, We here at West Side Terrace hire the Methodist Church Youth Group to cook, prepare and serve us our Thanksgiving Dinner.  They did it last year and was so good we brought them back again this year and they did not charge us an arm and a leg to do it.
.
.
Anna Mae and I and Mark Bierman set up the dining room in the morning,  we can seat 42 people, there are a total of 64 residents in our Building but we normally average 35 to 40 when we have an event.
.
.

..
.
The Methodist Church has 2 women youth leaders and they bring a few of their youth with them due to lack of room, some of the food is cooked at church and brought over here in broilers and kept heated till we eat.
.
.
Our meal was turkey, dressing, potatoes, gravy,  cranberry sauce, squash, mixed veggies, homemade rolls for our main meal at 2PM and it was delicious.
.
.
we had 2 tables of Home made deserts, the ladies from the Methodist Church did a lot of cooking and donated all the deserts for our meal.
.
.
Our dinner was served, Lady on the right in white sweater refuses to wear hearing aides and sometimes get a little mean when you try to talk to her !
.
.

.
Man on right, Billy is deaf and uses sign language,  his wife Tina is unable to walk, I pick on him something awful but we are good friends.
.

.

Lady in center was taken to Syracuse right after dinner with Heart Palpitations and unsteady on her feet, her Medicines caused most of her problems.
.

.
Everyone talks a little loud for awhile but when they serve these full plates of food it gets quiet.
.
.

.
We just had Bruce on the left just get out of the Hospital with Heart Problems, they put in his first Stent..
.
.
Everyone was served in 10 minutes, we fed 40 People, 7 of these meals were put up and delivered to their apartments as they could not and did not want to come down and join us.
.
.
The meal was delicious and  desert was Pumpkin, apple, custard,  pie and also Apple Crisp which I had.
.
.
.
We are so Thankful, for our Health, Family and Friends and enjoyed our Thanksgiving here at West Side Terrace.

Lots of Snow

We sure have been getting hammered with snow, hard to believe that Saturday we were walking around in T Shirts and Shorts and 65 degree weather but that all changed.
.
.
We went from sitting outside to going inside and watching it snow.   We went to bed with nothing, and about 3 AM it started Snowing !
.
.
We were on CBS NEWS this morning.  The first major snow storm of the season is sweeping through the Northeast. Dangerous conditions overnight sent drivers sliding off roads in New York state. Parts of the Northeast could see nearly 20 inches of snow by Tuesday morning. Tony Dokoupil reports from Watertown, New York.
.
.
We got pounded with snow and wind.
.
.
Looking out the back window towards our gardens, it really came down, Redfield New York got 40 inches of Snow, it is about an hour from us and higher elevation.  We got a lot of snow, about 2 feet so far.
.
.
The Garbage Can outside has about 2 feet of snow on it so far.
.

 .
This year they are using a contractor with a large blower to clear the road and pavement areas tocut down of tearing up the lawns.
.
.
We had a female Cardinal come in  to feed at the neighbors feeder along with a Junco during the morning.
.
.
We had the Male Cardinal come to our feeder during thr snow storm and they came in and fed and left, didn't see them the rest of the day.
.

.
This the snow drifts which blow down from the eves of the roof, and behind this pile and  drift is an apartment and it makes looking our difficult so Snow Rakes are used to clean the roofs of overhangs.
.
.
This is the door we usually go in and as you can see it is "Snowed In" !  It was cleared out in the afternoon !
.
.
In front of apartment there is almost no snow but back there is about 4 feet drifted in and the wind is out of the West coming in from the Great Lakes.
.
.
I went outside but not for too long as it is hard to breathe with this COPD so I sometimes have to wear a breathing mask. The wind died down and sun came out for a few minutes but didn't stay out long !!
.
.
My Honey making sure there is food in the Bird Feeders for our feathered friends. Pretty boring without them to watch.
.
.
This is common up here in the North Country for Bedtime !
