CAR SHOWS

Every Wednesday during the summer till after Labor Day our Legion Post has a Classic Car Show in downtown Carthage.  All Proceeds raised from 50-50 raffles, sales, concessions go to the American Legion Scholorship Fund whereby we give out 5 $500.00 dollar scholorships, we have have been doing these car shows for a few years and have raised about $30,000 dollars.
Our prizes are all donated by manufacturers such as hats, car wax, polishing cloths and everything associated with classic or antique cars.
.
.
.
This is 1st Vice Commander Dick Simmons who has for the past years ran the Car Show and does a great job raising money, treating all entries like Kings and Queens and has so had anywhere from 65  to  100 cars and trucks, motorcycles, classic, antique and unusual vehicles.
.
.
Myself, Post Public Affairs officer and Historian and Finance Officer Jack Jendrewski at the Hat, Flag and sign table which goes over very well.
.
.
The Tent has 5 gallon Pails of prizes which are given away by ticket drawing every half hour and the 50-50 drawing which usually runs around $200 dollars to some lucky car entry.  To the right is our food vendor who gives 25% of his profit back to thelegion for us letting him sit up there.
. Now here are  our Vehicles.

ROAD TRIP

We left on a "Road Trip" and looked over some State Campgrounds  near us, we drove down Interstate - 81 to Pulaski, went over to Selkirk Shores State Park on Lake Ontario.
.
The park is large, lots of full hook up sites, and Bare Sites with nothing, everything is crowded in tight.  Small lots, nice view of the Lake in the Picnic Area but o campsites on the Lake, we had lunch here.
.
.
We left and went north on RT # 3 to Southwicks Beach State Park, there were campsites here on the Beach area and all were full and are rented right thru the summer with no vacancies, to get a site here you have to go to Reserveamerica.com and book your site in January and then you can only get for a max of 14 days.  The Beach was nice.
.
.
We met a couple who have the same camper we do and talked with them for awhile and they were from Buffalo traveling around with their dog.
.
.
We left and went north to Westcotts Beach State Park and went past this place, if I had the money I would buy it.
.
.
We went walking out onto the rock jetty by the boat launch where my Number 1 found her sign.
.
 .
We enjoyed the day and looked around but were not thrilled with looking at over 500 camping sites, we are more into the woods, large wooded sites with water, I did however find several places to fish.
.
.
We had a good time.

Feeling Groovy !

The Villages of Carthage and West Carthage each have a Pavilion on each side of the river, Thursday night they needed someone to fill in and help with an Open Mike Night, so, I went over.   Could not do much with my back but brought 1 of my guitars, I then learned one of the girls broke her Guitar so My honey went home and got my other guitar !!
.
.
The Pavilion is brand new and we finally figured out the power and they got set up,
.
.
I opened with a few songs and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves as it was a beautiful night on the Black River.
.
.
Eric and Lauren did some Irish tunes and sounded very good, nice harmony.
.
. Kelsey Fraser did some Irish Tunes and wowed the crowd.
.
. We closed out the evening with a couple reels and Jigs and shared a few laughs and all in all it was a great evening, thanks to "My Honey for helping carry everything heavy for me !!!!
