Snow geese, Euchre, Pizza and Fun

We went for a ride and on the way to Watertown we spotted a rather large flock of Snow Geese, most I have ever seen in a flock, we figured about 200 snow geese here,
.
.
We went around and coming in from Lowville saw another flock, we think there were several hundred in this gaggle....
.
In with the white Snow Geese were also the Canadian Geese, there were hundreds and hundreds of them.

.

.
we thought this was snow and once again we saw hundreds and hundreds of White Snow Geese again in another meadow...
.

. we were coming in from Croghan and this time saw a meadow covered with these snow geese... I am 65 years old and I cannot ever remember flocks of this size coming in, and they are still around here even after our 3 inch snow storm.
.
.
Well, we are settled in waiting for spring, today we went to the Grau's for an afternoon of Euchre, Eddies Bologna, chips, dip, cheese and some beer,  we played Euchre, Penny and I and Marty and Anna Mae,  Great afternoon.
.
.
Penny and I won 5 games and they won 4 games, a good time was had, lots of laughs, conversation and no world problems got solved.
.
We had some Pizza Dough from Marty and Penny's daughter sent to them from Ohio and we had to try, it made a good pizza and we enjoyed it.
.
It was a good day.
.
Don't forget our Veterans.....

Since childhood I have loved to see a flock or gaggle of geese. Nothing sets my heart a wandering like geese, I know they will fly off one day and I want to go with them.

I hope you don't have long to wait for Spring. We will head north in a few weeks, rainy day here today.

Love you both and take care.
Good read and love the pictures!

empal adeldpWoody,
About 30 or so years ago Libby and I would go each year to Eastern Neck Refuge near Rock Hall, MD to spend a few days collecting data on the goose migration. We would set up a net across a cut field. About half way down the field we would pour sacks or cor and then wait for the flocks to land. When the geese would eat their way to about the middle of the field we would fire the net using a ten cap blaster. After catching the geese in the net we would weigh, measure, note the sex and the tag number. If there was no tag we would place one and note all the information.
It was a fun we but, you did get "Honker bit" on the fingers, legs, and butt a lot.
Regards,
Bill
