Changes

Well, we went from 3-4 inches of Snow to back to Green Grass and just a few spots of Snow in areas.  Winds help take away the Snow along with the Rain.  I have noticed a decline in Birds at the Bird feeder, a few Cardinals, no Tuffed Titnouse, very few Goldfinches, but they are around as we hear them !

.

Tomorrow is the Second Sunday of Advent and I am Liturgist, I do Announcements, Read Scripture and Offer Prayer,  We have a different Liturgist every Sunday from a list we maintain of about 6 -7 people.

.

We had our Monthly  Police Retirees Lunch, at "High Noon" on Wednesday,  Great Time, lots of Laughs and some Stories of the Past, Abobe is Patrolman Pierce, Patrolman Manassa, Police Chief Goss, Deputy Chief Lytle, Crime Scene and Photographer Rutledge and Me.  This was at the Crystal Restaurant in downtown Watertown and taken back in February.
.
.
Everyone above standing here after "High Noon Lunch" walked and Patrolled these streets 24 hours a day, 7 days a week issuing Parking tickets, Checking for unlocked doors, breaking up Bar Fights, Stopping in for a Coffee and Doughnut, stopping in and Talking with the Owners and workers in the Business, Checking on health and welfare of residents.

Summer of a few decades ago, Back in the "Old Uniforms" ! These White Shirts were worn from the start of the Police Force back in the 1800's,  was not unusual to ruin a shirt at the end of the shift from a bar fight or family fight, shirt would be torn, stained with blood or other matter, lucky the City replaced them and didn't take it out of our yearly Uniform Allowance !
.
.
First man in the Front of our Squad in above picture for Riot Duty was me, I was Tall so that's where I went !
.
.
I was President of the Watertown Police Benevolent Association, *(our Union) and pressed hard to change from the Long and short sleeved White Shirt to the Dark Blue, after much arguments from City Manager we were allowed the change, less Visable at Night time and safer.  Supervisors still wore White !
.
.
Heading downtown to walk & patrol 1,2,4,6,10 Beat or Stand the American Corner.  The American Corner was manned 27/7 !
.
.
. The People made the Job, good conversation with everyone, drunks, addicts, bums, the Mayor, anyone around always to stop and say hi to the Beat Cop, Great and enjoyable 8 or 12 hours !
.
.
Desk Duty, 8PM until 4AM,   Lots of Dunkin Donuts Coffee, a Cigarette in the ashtray and right in between phone calls !
.
.
Going Back a few years,  1974 !!!!

Comradelier one of the advantages of a uniform. A a kid I always admired the policeman walking a beat. They were always a breath of fresh air and someone to admire. I know you guy have some tales every time you get together. Time keeps on and shrinks the ranks that is for sure.
Sending love and the best to you and that pretty lady.
