Navy Birthday

Wednesday October 13th is the 246th Birthday of the United States Navy,  Today Saturday the 9th at Bassett-Baxter American Legion Post 789 we started back up our annual "Navy Day" !    For many Years we held "Navy Day" at the Legion Post until 2008, that year several Members felt it was unfair that the Navy was allowed to hold a Party and so they were stopped.

.

With the New Commander she stated that we would restart the Tradition of "Navy Day" and we did today !

.

.
The first Navy Day we held had 6 Former Navy Veterans show up, we drank some beer, ate some "Monkey Brain Soup" and we had some delicious Navy Bean Soup.  Back someYears ago this was a group that attended one of the earlier Navy Days we held at the Post.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I am asked many times, "Which branch was the best?"
My answer is: The Corps was the most consistent. The discipline was the same no matter the base.
The Air Force supplied the best duty.
The USN was the best to me. I had great duty and finally got promoted on an equal basis.
Anyway loved the post, good for you. and Also we are thinking and praying for you and Anna Mae. Life is good and hope and pray for the best up your way.
Love from Sherry & jack down here.
