Enjoying Summer
We have had hot, humid, hazy weather, but we stayed "Haze Grey and Under Way"!!! It has rained and temps in the high 80's which is nice, we are ready for some camping after we get Doctors appointments out of the way!!
.
.
We have had to stake up the peas and thin the turnips and tie up the tomato's in our # 2 Garden at the Daughters.
.
.
We have had fresh lettuce from Garden # 1 at West side and it was great on sandwich's, everything is growing OK!
.
.
Friday night I played Solo at the Oswegatchie Coffee House in Gouverneur, New York and enjoyed a nice evening of music and Prayer!!
.
.
We have "Cardinals", we have a breeding pair nesting near by and we have 3 young males as they are changing into bright red, we also are lucky enough to have a pair of nesting Blue-Birds which we can watch from the window, they took over the Swallows empty nest and the Red Breasted Grossbeaks are coming back.
We have a beautiful window to watch some of Natures Beauty from.
.
Hope everyone is enjoying the summer!!!!
Don't forget, Honor our Vets !!!!!

Happy 4th of July
Hope everyone had a great 4th of July !!!!!!
I went to see my brother who was back in the woods at his Hunting Camp. It is also a great place to park your camper and enjoy nature.
.
.
I was in the Navy, my younger brother Ronnie was in the United States Marine Corps. "Once a Marine, always a Marine", Ronnie was shot up in Vietnam. End of story as he does not talk about it!! He says he did what he was asked to do! He is one tough brother and I am very proud of him.
.
.
We rode around the property which is near where he and I grew up, hunted and camped and played on, in the back ground you can see a large elec. transmission line.
.
.
Ronnie, his wife Paula, My Honey and Me and 2 of Ronnies many grandchildren.
.
.
Paula behind the wheel of her buggy taking anna mae, hayden and lana out thru the woods to hunt for lions, tigers and bears but only seen a few wild baby turkey chicks.
.
.Hayden and I checking over a massive old pine tree while wandering where I did as a boy about his age.
.
.An old melon head cutting up a melon for Ronnie's grand kids!!
.
.My brother cooked us a delicious Prime Rib on the grill, home made Baked Beans with bacon strips, Macaroni and Cheese, Croghan Bologna and cheese curd and we ate like Kings and Queens. We told stories, shared memories about the recent loss of our 2 brothers, and all in all had a great day!!!!
Wonderful 4th of July!!

Growing season.
I have been following Shipslog as Jack posts pictures of his journey.
.
We finally are seeing some progress in our Gardens, the weather has been wet and rain and then hot and humid, right now it is dark, humid and raining.
.
.
This is the garden at west side just before we planted it. Growing season up here is from Memorial Day to Labor Day or Canadian Columbus Day so things have to grow fast and furious as the season is so short.
.
.
The garden has lettuce, onions, parsley, chives, tomatos, beans all coming up nicely.
.
.
After weeding the garden I cooked us a couple of fay, juicy pork chops for dinner on one of our grills out in the garden area.
.
.
We are at our daughters, Anna Mae and I are planting our other garden, our daughter roto tilled it up for us with her Pony Troy Built tiller which did an excellent job.
.
.
The tomatos, beans, onions, turnips, peas and corn are growing .
.
.
We talked Brent, our grandson into watering the garden for us.
.
.
All we are waiting for is the Garden to "Grow Dammit" !!
.
.
Karl and I joined Mark at the Skilled Nursing Unit to entertain the residents and all had a great time.
.
Don't forget our Veterans!!!!!

Well we decided we needed to get away, sitting home stinks, we looked for some Class - C campers, found several we liked, but the cost was not in our budget, we found several pop-ups we liked, we had pop ups before so we knew what we wanted so found a nice little Jayco tag along, Eagle Series 8. We left home and went to Whetstone to welcome in summer, this park is only 45 minutes from home and we have camped here in tents and pop ups before.
.
I needed to relax as my Brother John's Funeral is tomorrow at 11AM, he is being buried on his Birthday, June 22.
.
. I see Jack is Traveling on the "Ships Log" and Jimmy has been busy Singing up a storm !!!
.
.
We arrived in some nice warm dry weather, we have been flooded by many many days of rain and we planned this trip between the rain, we needed some quiet time.
.
.
We got busy and set up "Camp" !
.
.
My Honey worked very hard unpacking as my back was going out again so I had to be careful. Lots of things we packed in the suv were going into the Camper to stay.
.
.
We usually take this site, it is number 56, it has no power but is close to showers and bathroom. It also has a nice fire pit and is nice and dry so no mud from all the rain we have had.
.
.
The picture below is of the swimming area, each year they clean out the bottom of the shale rock pit, put in fresh beach sand and block off the dam, this water is always COLD, it never warms up but the kids love it in the summer.
.
.
The stone in the park makes a nice whetstone for sharpening knives, it also is a great place to look for fossils in the creek.
.
.
Well, when camping you always build up an appetite and I love to cook, so up and at the stove.
.
.
My Honey made fresh perked coffee on our old coffee pot and it was very good!!!
.
.
Breakfast was eggs, Canadian bacon, potatoes with chopped up onions, crackers and fried in lots of butter and juice and toasts.
.
.
The weather was warm, but it dipped down into the low 40's at night and glad we brought the down comforter to snuggle under.
.
.
We had a great time, hopefully we will get out there more!!
.
Don't forget to remember out Veterans, Past and Present.

Sad Day
Well our cold weather has left us, it is 82 out now, sunny and muggy, Got word this morning that my Brother John in Gloucester, VA. passed away about 1 Am this morning, 5/30/2013.
My Niece, his youngest daughter Brandy who lived with him said she was holding his hand and he jumped, opened his eyes and said" I am going with you Dad, here's my hand"!!!! he then passed over!!
.
.
This is my Dad and Mom, John Ellsworth Wood and Ethel Irene (Whitford) Wood, below them is John Austin Wood who passed away at 1AM and Donald Theodore Wood who passed away in October, Dad and both brothers all had Cancer.
.
Well I have shed my tears, squared my shoulders and accepted this is what happens in large families.
.
We are going out and plant some of our garden, need to get my hands in dirt and work off this anxiety.
.
Hope all Veterans had a Good Memorial Day and remembered those serving and those who have passed on, God Bless!!

Decoration Day
Well, we lost our warm weather, it is raining, cold, thundering and Lightning, we did get some hail and some strong winds and the temperatures are in the 40's. It is not as bad as it was out in Oklahoma, I am thankful my Son-In-Law Ed is working out at Tinker Air Force Base working on the runways and they are safe.
.
.
It's Memorial Day Weekend, we have been to the Graves putting up Flags and offering Prayers to all Veterans !
.
.
This is a picture of my Dad and Mom and us 8 Kids, we have lost our Brother Donnie last October at age 72,, he is in the back row, now we just learned my oldest brother John, 6th one in back has just gotten out of the hospital, he has stage 4 lung cancer, all his 7 children are heading for Virginia to spend some time with him. My brother Ronnie, *(USMC) who is in the suit on the left has a aneurysm in the brain, he is also the one shot several times in Vietnam, he is having problems with his legs and feet and the Doctors at the VA say it is from handling all that "Agent Orange" while in Vietnam, he can not travel much.
.
.
The picture below is of me and John, he will be 84 this June 22 hopefully.
.
.
This is me and my Brother Donnie who passed away last October from Cancer, he had leukemia.
.
.
We have been busy playing and giving the area residents of the Nursing Homes and Hospitals some enjoyment.
.
.
With the approach of Memorial Day let us remember those Veterans Past and Present.

Some Bar B Q
Well it got up to 68 degrees, sunny SO I headed out back to the new grills, these are new and bought for our use by the Housing Authority, on the right side is a nice trimmed pork loin steak, on the left is 5 slices of potato, I take a potato and cut it the long way into 5 slices, spray with butter pam, season with garlic, onion and Italian seasoning, while it is cooking I drizzle Italian Salad dressing on it and also the pork steak, takes about 45 minutes to cook but worth it.
.
.
My Honey came out and is sitting on our Garden, we got our garden back we had and gave up on the one we offered to use so someone could use ours.
.
.
It is still cool, but leaves are coming out and they have mowed the grass already.
.
.
After 45 mnutes supper, Pork Steak, BBQ Potato, tossed salad with homemade apple sause and Lebanese Flat bread.
.
.
This was delicious.
.
.
Well as Memorial Day approaches let us remember our Veterans, both past and present.
