Nicer Weather Day

Up Early at "Lazy Akers" today as it was supposed to be a nice day for outside work and puttering so we had a project we wanted to get done,  It was a Bird House we salvaged and we got it last year !  I got the Lazy Akers  sign repainted and sanded down where it faded and paint cracked.

.

We needed a 4 X 4 X 8 foot so went to lumber yard, IT WAS $19.95,   I CHOKED !!!!  Last 4 X 4 I bought a few years back if memory serves me right was just over $6.00 !!!!!!  Oh well, we needed it and glad it was only 1 we needed !

.

.

Got the Pole set, lining up the Bird house with the Plywood Platform !   We use the wagon and 5 gallon Pails to put dug dirt in as it makes disposal easier and clean up a breeze !

.

.

We picked our spot and with a shovel and Post Hole Diggers set to work putting in a hole for the 4 X 4,  at 2 feet down we hit solid Rock,  We were lucky,  NO, we were Blessed as beside 1 slanted rock we were able to carefully did past and got a nice 6 inch flat sided hole which allowed the 4 X 4 to rest one side against solid rock, we filled in the other 3 sides with small rock and dirt layers!

Putting the finishing touches on the Bird House,  it has 3 stories and 10 seperate Houses inside !

.

.

I got the Bird House lined up on the Plywood Platform and secured it down then caulked the sides between the 2 pieces of Plywood to keep water out.

.

.

The Boss checking to see if maybe we want to put some wooden Lath up one side and grow some Morning Glories to climb it like a Trellis !

.

.

My Honey over at the small inground Garden Spot removing grass, sod and weeds as we figure out what to Plant in it !!!

.

.

After all that work today I fired up the Gas Grill and My Honey had unthawed some Venison Steaks so I grilled us some Deer for dinner tonight !

.

.

Supper was Venison Steak Sandwich , Fried Onions, Tossed Salad, Johnny Cake, and it was delicious !   

.

.

 

Weather Changes, sun to SNOW

 1 thing people will tell you about living in the Northern New York area-------"If you don't like the weather, Just wait, it'll Change" !

The above picture of the Bird Bath on the left was Yesterday, Tuesday,  The Picture of the Bird Bath on the right is this Morning and shows the Snow we got overnight !  We have about 4 to 5 inchs of Snow right now and still coming down !!!

Rose Bush this morning, Snow this late in the season should not hurt the buds or growth on the Rose Bushs !

Tomorrow if it warms up this will all start melting we hope !!!!

Weather Changing

 Well, we are still waiting for a True Spring Like season,  Tomorrow and Thursday we are forecast "Snow" and temps in the high 20 and low 30's.  Been it seems a slow start to nice weather, Have not done any Fishing yet !!!

Normally by by April 20th our Daffodils are up and in full bloom but this year this is all we have so far.  3 little buds starting to flower.

.

Right now it is Raining, spitting some Hail and winds out of the east. 

.

.

It does not show up but the Bird Bath has Hail coming down making the ripples along with the rain !  Old Norm is still holding the Flag high and Proud !!!!!

.

.

The Tall Hydrenga is showing some fresh Buds coming out on the upper trimmed stalks !

.

.

The "Tea Rose Bush I transplanted last fall has some fresh buds coming out on a couple of the Leaders but hoping the rest of them also Bud Out !

.

.

The little Blood Red Rose Bush made it thru the Winter and has lots of Green Stalks and Buds and also some Leaves coming out already, this one will Flower first !

.

.

.

A Good sign on an Old Tea Rose Bush is all the Leaves that are out which shows good growth and soil !

.

.

The "Koosa" Bed is ready to plant after we do a little weeding and tilling !

.

Hoping the Snow is  not much as we are eager to get to Fishing !

Rainy Day Boredom

 Well, it started early to Rain, it was a downpour as the Temps dropped it eased off on the Rain so I had to entertain myself,  I went down to the Basement and fired up the Gas Fire Place to take the dampness off and warm up the Basement.   Got it fired up and the Fans on !

.

.

 I stripped off old dried cracked paint and then Sanded it down so I could repaint it,  My Oldest Brother who has passed away made this for me years and years ago and it has only hung at 3 of the many places we have owned or rented !  I  think this is it's final home !

.

.

The Barn Wood used for the back and bottom came from an Old Barn My found.

I got the loose cracked paint off and have it all sanded down and ready so I painted "Lazy Akers"

on it and set it up to dry !

.

.

So while waiting for the Fresh Paint to dry I pounded out a few songs on the Mandolin and stretched out the lungs singing a few songs !

.

.

.

So this relaxing in the Basement, puttering around during a rainy day I settled down to watch the Fire Place and My Honey caught me taking a "snooze" !!!

Spring Time Here

Well, can now say we have had an End to Winter, It has warmed up and we have gotten up to 74 degrees and sunny and enjoyable,  I wore Shorts for the first time this year today the 11th of April !

.

.

 I got the Deere out, changed the gas, checked Oil and fired it up and running ok !   Hooked up the Tow Behind and picked up the yard and trimmed the Rose bushs and hauled a few leaves and scraps to the tree line !

.

.

The Daffodils are up 2 to 3 inches and a sure sign "Spring" is here !

My "Tools" and "My Honeys" are ready for summer now !

Shorts for the first time this year and it was nice !

Coach Light Easter Dinner

Last year one of our Restaurants we have eaten at Burned to the Ground, The Coach Light Inn,  It was a Bad Fire, owners lost everything !

.

.

They thought they could save the Building but lack of water and cold temps hampered it from being put out !

.

.

It burned to the Ground last year and opened up 1 year after it burned down.!

.

.

All Rebuilt and open, building this in less than a year !!!!  Yes, we still have Snow up in the Mountains and Ice in the Lakes and Ponds !

.

.

Dining room is Beautiful !

.

We had a great time with My Honeys Mother, her Sister and Brother !

.

Snowy an Cold

We lost our warmth and woke up to a fresh coating of Snow, Not what we wanted for Easter Weekend.

.

.

We got a dusting of Snow but it won't last, Sunshine will come out and melt it all away,  we do have some piles of snow that will be here a while longer !

.

We are ready for Easter,  Last night we went to a Tenebrae "Service Of Shadows" at Church which was very Sad, we had 16 People in Church an 6  People on ZOOM !! 

.

We are Quiet today resting,  Saturday we are going out for Dinner at the Coach Light up in Lewis County, This business Burned Down last year and has been rebuild and ready for Business, My Honeys Mother is taking out 3 of her Children and spouse for Lunch !

.

Then on Easter after Church we are going back to My Honey's Mothers for a nice Ham Dinner !!           

.
