Whetstone Gulf

 Well, what does one do when it's 92 degrees and Humid,  *  PICNIC    !  We pack the car and off we went for a 40 -45 MInute Car Ride to a New York State Park !     "Whetstone Gulf State Park !  Whetstone Gulf State Park is a 2,100-acre state park located in Lewis County, New York. The park is on the edge of the Tug Hill Plateau, south of Lowville, on the border of the towns of Turin and Martinsburg. The east end of the park is located near New York State Route 26.

Car Packed and off we go !

My Honey cutting up Summer Squash, Onion, Salt Potatoes and Mushrooms to go with the Boneless Spare Ribs to be wrapped in Aluminum Foil and cooked over the fire !

Water Break, 92+ Degrees and hot and Humid but the Creek is cool !

Great Picnic in the Park,   Great Day, Even took a couple walks and there was a nice breeze.

Hot an Humid Family Gathering

 Yesterday was 92+ and Humid,  We enjoyed the Day, it was a Good Sunday !    We had a Dinner Planned as My Honeys Brother Marc is here from Florida fort a Visit !

We all sit around the Back Yard in the Shade by the Garage !  It was Hot and Humid but Marc said it was just like Florida !!!

.

.

My Nephew and I manned the Grill cooking Sausage, Hot Dogs and Hamburgers for everyone !

.

.

My Honeys 2 Brothers and the other 3 Brothers are in Florida !

.

.

Standing beside her Sister, Her other 2 Sisters are out of the area !

.

.

The Garage was sit up with our Picnic Table for a Meal !

.

.

We had Food and More Food, and everyone ate their fill !

.

Blue Cooler full of Soda, Tea and Water !!!!

Desert, Ice Cream Cake and Strawberry Rhubarb Pie and it was oh so Delicious !

My Honey with her Mother and 2 Brothers and Sister !!!     Great Get together !

 Nice Day today, just trying to stay kool !!!  it's in upper 80's and Hot and Humid !

The Blood Thinners I am on,  81 mg Aspirin and also Plavix make my body hotter or colder than most as my Blood is like Water to keep it flowing freely thru the Heart Stents and to prevent any more clots !

.

Been watching the Baltimore Orioles and the Adults seen above are not coming to the Grape Jelly Cups, now it is mostly the newly hatched babies which they brought in to feed.

.

The Old Blue Bird House had a Family of Wrens in it and they have hatched and gone,  Now the Blue Box has a couple in it and they now have some little ones in it,  I had to remodel the Holes as it was allowing Sparrows inside and they would kill the Wrens,  The holes now are are just 1" in diameter.

.

The Hummingbirds are busy, we refill the 3 feeders we have hanging weekly now as they now have babies coming in with them !  Usually just 1 baby hatches !

.

.

Flowers are finally taking root and coming up, just have to water a lot in this heat to keep them going !

.

.

The Lebanese Squash, (Koosa)  is coming nicely now with all this heat !   We have several hills planted and staggered the times !

.

.

The Tea Roses are also doing great and have not had very many Japanese Beetles this year, (Yet) and hope we don't.   I use a mixture of Dish Soap and Water and spray all my flowers and Plants about every 3 days to control the "Bugs" !

Have cleaned Garage, Plan on Wife having her Brother from Florida here and other Brother and Sister and family for 10 of us for a cook out after Church !

Treasures

We went for a ride the other day and went up to this quaint little shop right full of any and everything "Old" or almost old !   I was looking around because My Honey had found something shew has been looking for for quite a while and this shop had them,  She was dickering over the Price and I looked around a corner of a storage area not part of the shop and spotted a couple items that drew my interest,  But First My Honey  !!

 The Wife found this pair of "Bear Paw" Snow Shoes, she wanted them as she always had a pair and over the years they disappeared!    Well Sir, she struck a Deal and now has them and now we just need Snow !

.

This is what she is waiting for to try this coming winter,  Today it was just 90 degrees finally and very Hot and Humid !    We had some terrible winds and rain yesterday, but I still am not anxious for this stuff pictured above !!!

I had the Modified Bear Paws because of my Height, needed longer ones !

This was my "Find" while snooping around,  Lady said it really wasn't for sale as it was broken,  I asked her if I could look at it and she said it was OK !

This is an Autoharp or Zither from the Oscar Schmidt Company,  This one made around 1918-1920 sold back then for $30.00 dollars by the Chartola.   I remember my Grand Mother had one similar to this one we would sneek into her room and bang on the strings until she finally started locking her door to keep us out !!!LoL  !

All the Strings were on this and only thing I need now is to find a tuning Key wrench.

In talking with the Lady she let me have the Autoharp for,  "Hang on",  She said $10.00 dollars,  I said SOLD !!!!    She said she would never fix it as she didn't know how, had no Idea how to play in and then she said "Here" !

She gave me a grocery bag "Full" of sheet music for the Autoharp or Zither.

.

.

These sheets are old and brittle,  Each sheet is one song,  Lyrics and words on the left side and Notes or strings to pluck on the Right side, the sheet slides under the strings and rests so you look at it thru the strings !  I will get some cheap Womens Hair Spray and the sheets I want to handle I will place them in a Cardboard Box and spray them with Hair Spray to preserve them so I can handle them !

Looking good after all her Treatments for that Ugly Word Cancer,  Just had her Checkup and is doing Great !   No more Treatments, still taking lots of Iron, *(slofe) !

I am still Grilling and Chillin in the Garage !
