Weekend here

 Well the weekend is here, but then it's not much different than say Wednesday and Thursday or Monday and Tuesday except there is Church on 1 day !     Hope I don't forget to turn the clocks ahead that 1 hour !!!

Last night we had our first major Rain Storm of Spring, I mean it poured an windy and it did take away about a foot of snow but still have lots of snow left,  It was 65 yesterday, Thursday and today it was only 37.

I used our warm day Thursday to Bar-B-Q and I cooked a Nice big Pork Steak an Aspragus on the grill and was it ever good !

Relaxing Sunday

 A quiet Sunday,  Up early, watched some News an Weather and then Oatmeal,  Oatmeal is my Sunday breakfast Treat, during the week I have a Oat Bran Muffin and a Banana twice a week !  Saturday is better as then we have Bacon and Eggs, Toast and Juice and then nothing more till dinner at 5:30 !

I had to go to the Garage so this was the attire as it was - 6 BELOW this morning but it did warm up, right now it is 14 degrees !! 

.

Tuesday Night, March 9th will be our Legion Meeting and Election of Officers, Last April we did not have Elections as National said those in Office could remain in Office for another year as there was no legion meetings !  I have been asked to go back in as the Historian again,  I was the Past Historian, a Post I held for over 15 years and I served 2 years as Finance Officer.  Nominations are in March, Election in April and Installation is in May !     Will see what happens at the meeting Tuesday.

Marching along

 Well, we have entered March and  left 2 Months of winter behind us this year,  Wind, Cold, Snow, those Icy Roads and White Outs !

This Morning I had my appointment at the Doctors in Watertown so while sitting here this Morning I heard that Rumble, felt the house shivver a little and looking out the Bay Window saw approaching Fort Drum a Big old C-117.

You can see him approaching in the Circle at 8 o'clock !

The Fort Drum Air Field was busy this Morning, This old Boy above has gone right over the house about 6 Times so far at 11:20 AM. House shakes, ground shakes, Love it, Another sign of our "Freedom" !!!!

So we went to the EyeDoctor, I did OK, will be getting New Glasses!!!!

We got home and checked on the Crock Pot and the nights dinner and it was gonna be good !

We cooked 2 Lamb Shanks yesterday, cooled them and deboned the meat, let the Meat set all night in it's cooking juices, this morning cut it up and put it in the Slow cooker with Mushrooms, Onions and cooked it all day, *9 Hours),  we cooked Rice and served the Lamb over Buttered Rice with Bread and Butter and it was delicious !

Well, 9PM and time for my Night Medications and Eye Drops !

Check Up

 Well, we have been having a few problems so we ended up at a Urologist for a Visit and an Exam.  After some Blood work and a conference it was decided to do a Cystoscopy !  SO, we booked the operating room at Carthage Area Hospital and set the date and last week we had it done,  now just waiting for results from the Doctor.  If you want to know more about a "Cystoscopy" you can Google it !.

My "Cystoscopy" included an inspection of the Kidneys also,  They Injected a Tracer and X-Rayed my Kidneys ! So waiting for those reports and results !

So this Morning while getting ready to go uptown to Carthage to Clean the Church I find a nice hidden Patch of "Black Ice" !

Yup,  Down I go, I caught myself an a small cut on right hand but landed mostly on my right side and knees,  That was 8:30 Am, it is now 8PM, I am a little sore !!!!   I am truly Thankful it was nothing worse !

.

Time for Tylenol and put my feet up !   It was an enjoyable day, Temps got up to 45 degrees and it rained a little !!

Winter an Roofs

 WoW,  If you get a chance stop in at Jacks Page , "SHIPSLOG" and see what a Nasty Animal a Pit Bull can be when they become Tempermental and Bite, so Glad it was not worse than it was.

In the winter living up here in the North you have to watch your Roof, 1 for Snow Load,  2 for Ice Build up and 3 for Leaks !    We got more Snow this winter than we did last winter and this being the second Winter in our Old House we noticed there was a large build up of Snow and Ice on the edge of the roof !

There is a good 6 to 8 inches on Ice along the edge of the roof built up from melting Snow, This is not good, 

.

.

This is what I hired my Handyman to do, and it worked about a week, with the 10 to 15 below zero temps at night the melting roof water built back up !

.

.

There is a "Rain Gutter" and down spout on the back of the house to catch and divert rain water,  I think this is part of the Problem as the melting water freezes up in the Gutter, back up and stays on the roof !

.

.

We bought some of these Tablets, We threw some up behind the Ice Buildup and then called our Handyman to come and remove as much Ice as Possible.  The Tablets melted some of the Ice.

.

I know I am not supposed to be on a ladder but had to do it "My Way" !

.

My Honey was right there while I was up on the Ladder watching me and holding my leg to keep me steady !  The Roof has been "Shoveled Twice" in the last 2 weeks and we have another "Lake Effect Snow Storm" coming in bring in more Snow !  We will wait to see what happens.

Well Time to go Practice some songs down in the Basement !

Valentines Day

 Well today started out a little warmer and we had some sunshine,   This Sunday is our Ministers Sunday Off so My Honey did the service for him after he asked her to fill in for him, She has done it before and does an excellent job !

.

.

We are still doing services over ZOOM but we do have great Music !  A nice Message on Love and Jesus !

.

.

Tonight's Dinner is Delmonico Steak,  Lobster and Sweet Corn and I am the Chef !  The Sweet Corn we froze up last summer in packages of 4 ears, The Lobster are 8 oz Maine Cold Water Lobsters and the Steak is from Eddie Bolivers Butcher Shop freshly cut !

I made us a nice delicious Meal for Valentines Day !

TRAGIC LOSS

 We are sad and sorrowful right now, My wife has lost one of her Family,    Her Cousin John Passed away!

.

.

This was John and I when we met up a few months ago in a Restaurant..

John Astafan was 69, still working full time, he felt sick and went to the ER and they told him to take some antibiotics and then sent him home !

.

2 days later her went back to the Hospital, they admitted him, said he had Covid-19 and as he was having trouble breathing they put him on a Ventilator and put him out with sedatives. 

He was on the Ventilator for over 3 weeks and the Covid ravaged and damaged his Lungs that he could not breathe on his own,  his wife agreed along with his 3 daughters he was to be Taken off the Ventilator and he was with just his wife with him, he passed away 10 minutes later,  His wife was beside him, he never spoke after he went on the Ventilator.

John and I worked on the Police Department together, we were hired in a group of 9 Men, we were and still are the Biggest Class they ever Hired and trained !

.

.

The whole 9 in the front Row were the Class of 74 !  4 in the front row seated are gone, back left Richards is gone, 3rd from right, Loomis just passed away from heart Attack, 5th from right back row has passed, 4th from the left also has passed away,  

.

.

We lost Vanbrocklin first from Cancer,  We lost Reff from a punctured lung that happened in the Hospital due to Negligent Surgery !  We lost Cummings last Fall from Cancer and now Astafan from this Dam Covid !

.

.

.

Above was at a get together when we had 5 of the 9 together for dinner a few years back,  I am the second Oldest of the group, Scott is the Oldest at 79 now.   Sad that out our class so many have passed away.

.

.

This is me and Sgt McGraw who taught me Flight Lessons, I loved flying, But never did get enough Money to buy that Plane !  LOL !!!    Sarge  is in a Nursing Home just sitting there staring out the window, doesn't talk or know anyone !    SAD !

.

.

My Partner, Best Friend and co-hort and keeper of all 10-7 secrets when we worked together, Fuhrken,  He went on the Force 2 years ahead of me, we worked same shifts, same days off, and were partners in Patrol on Nights for years and years or Walked Beats together !      Sadly Pancreatic Cancer got the best of him !!!

On or Off Duty we were never too far from each other !

.

.

On the Job we made a lot of Good Arrests and enjoyed the work, hours and Crap !

.

.

He came home from Texas to Visit me, we were 2 peas in a pod,  He was one of my few closest friends !

.

.

Mark and his wife and my Honey and I joined them when they rented a cottage (Castle) on an Island in the Thousand Islands, Mark was in the last stages of Pancreatic Cancer, they flew Home from Texas to visit family and Friends, Mark passed away when they got back to Texas a few month's later, We flew out to Texas and brought him back home an I did his Funeral Service.
