A Wake an Plums, Koosa, Tomatoes

Today we went to a Wake for my Wife's Cousin and a fellow Policeman I worked with,  He passed away in February at age 69 from COVID-19.  Today we gathered at and said our Good By's and Memories!  Nice Lunch and great People gathered to remember !!

.

We have had another Pouring down rain storm and things are growing with all this water!  We took a walk tonight down to the corner and back, then checked the back yard.    The Morning Glories are now 8 feet tall and just showing some flower Buds coming out,  The Gourds are flowering and have Vined out.

.

This is the Neighbors front yard and this is a "Stanley Plum Tree" !
.
.
Inside branches and outer branches overloaded with Plums !
.
.
The left 4 Plums were on the Ground, the 9 green ones were also,  The rain knocked these off the Tree.  They are supposed to get a little bigger, I never grew a Plum Tree so not sure how big they will get,   Last year and year before they were very few Plums on this tree unlike this year !
.
.
We checked the Garden and got 5 more Koosa, *(Kusa) and Sweet 100 Tomato's.  The Tomato's are near the Plums.
.
.
The pink Hydrangea Blossoms are for Church tomorrow for the Altar.
.
Time to check Emails !

Mid Summer

Well, we have had a lot of Rain and a couple Thunder Boomers, Last Night the sky was lit up bright with Lightning and loud with wind and pouring Rain !  I am kind of glad we don't have a Metal Roof as it probably would have been loud with Pounding Rain !

.

.
We have a small Harvest from the Garden !
.

.We picked over a Dozen (Koosa) Kusa and cleaned and scraped some of them for stuffing of Lamb, Rice, Tomato an Sause.

.

.
Next day My Honey and her Mother cleaned and stuffed the rest of the Koosa, stacked it in the pots and started cooking .

Mid Summer

Well, Summer is now half over, Things are growing fast, Contractors are hustling to get things done, some are already scheduling work for next year, people are hiring anyone with a Hammer and a Saw an Truck and still there are so much repairs and damaged homes around and some now falling down !

.

.
It has been H & H,  Hot and Humid,  the thermometer has read 92 degrees,  I don't remember those temps for years back when I was out in the Hay Field or in the Garden during the summer as a boy.  We have all 3 AC Units running but nice and cool in the basement,  68 degrees down there !
.
.
The Lettuce Bucket attached to the railing on the porch is great idea My Honey had,  Delicious and grows fast !
.
.
The Koosa is started and we have picked 8, we will have a Big Feed Thursday Night with the Family !
.
.
The Tomatoes are awesome, soon we will have some sweet 100 and some Grape size ZEN tomatoes.
.
Other than Tending the Gardens and mowing and running to the Doctors we have been pretty quiet.
.

.
This house is across the road, their Porch with the railings and slanted roof  was torn off yesterday !  I know the contractor who is doing the work !!!  This morning he and his crew of 3 pulled in and started building in the rain.
.
.
This is what they have gotten done by 2PM,  looks like they are picking up to call it a day !
.
.
Their white work Trailer,  the black pickup with the old porch they tore down and scraps.  There  2 x 6 braces are gone now and the support for the porch roof is 2 pressure treated 4 X 4 Posts.
.
.
This is one of the 2 corner posts holding up the roof,  Lagged into the concrete slab.  Be OK unless it's hit with the Snow Blower or Lawn Mower,  3 sides lagged down. I would have used a 6" X 6".
.
.
9- 2" X 6" roof joists hung with Hanger Plates attached to 1 inch plate !!!
.
.
Canopy set up in front of Garage to air out and strech, have not used it since we sold last camper 3 years ago.  It is still in Brand new (Old)  shape !!!
.
Time to go get ready for dinner !
