Memories

Sunday, Cold, went outside to go to Church and forgot to put on a mask and that was a mistake, we got about 8 to 10 inches of snow and bitter cold, It is hard to breathe in these Temps so I wear a Mask, I made it to Church, good Service and good message !  We had a frozen pipe and water leak in the Parsonage last night but lucky it drained right into the basement and not much damage, lucky our Interim Minister knew where to shut off the water and the number to call for emergency plumber we have !  God is Good !
.
So home this afternoon, have to take it easy so went thru some old pictures whch I like doing !  One of my favorites is the Farm, Oh what nice Memories they hold !
.
Besides the Horse Barn and Cow Barn and Silo was the Buggy Barn.  Inside the buggy barn was a Cedar Board closet and inside it was a Beautiful Black Horse drawn Surrey complete with the Fringe on top and a Buggy Whip !  We would sit in it and pretend we were on a stage coach and whoop and Holler until Gramp or Grandma would come in and put the run on us !
.
.
This Surrey Grampa said came with the Farm and was one of his prized Possessions, I was in High School when I remember my Dad saying the Buggy had been Stolen from the Farm,  It was sold for $ 100.00 dollars !
.
The other thing parked in the Buggy Barn was the Old Buick Grandpa Had, It had a wooden steering wheel, spoked wheels, spark advance and throttle levers on the steering column, there were curtains in the back and running boards and  we would sit in it and pretend we were driving all around while smoking Pipes with Gramps Old Growler/Granger Pipe Tobacco !
.
.
.
Gramp, Grandma and Clyde Masterson ! Sad to think I was in High School and came home and learned from talking with my Dad Grandpa sold the Buick for $250.00 Dollars !
.
.
.
.
.
.
Grandma Wood worked on the Farm my Dad said just like Grandpa Did !!    She was in the Barn Yard near one of the Horses when the Horse grabbed my Grandma by the Left Shoulder and lifted her off the ground, the Bite was severe, My Dad said my Grandpa who was a small framed man picked her up, carried her to the House and sent my Dad crosslots to get her Brother who came over and treated her,  They were tough people !
.
Horses were a big part of my growing up and spending time on the Farm !  Sweet Memories on this cold winters Night !
.
Don't forget, Remember our Vets !

Our older folk wre tough as leather. Love the pictures I know they area treasure. I can imagine the fun of playing in that old surrey. I Love old horse pictures, but the best is your Grandma Wood. I have a shot of my Grandma Loyd in about that same pose and dress.
Good stuff my friend, take care of your self,.......
