Winter is Longggggggggg

Well, the Old Wood Chuck Puxatony Phil came out and didn't see his shadow on Ground Hog Day, that means an early spring, only problem it is still gonna be winter till spring comes and that is in Mother Natures hands, not a woodchuck !
.
.
We will just have to wait till Spring gets here and see how close the animals prediction is !
.
.
We have been infested with Red Squirrels, we have Red and Greys up here, very few Black ones,  The Squirrels chewed up some things in the Garage,  SO, I got the BB Gun out and started thinning them out !  I have shot 7 of them so far, and there are many more of them around, I take the carcass out behind the garage and let the Fox's that wander thru have them, when we lived next door 13 years ago I would kill a few off in the fall to keep the numbers down, but they have prospered in 12 years ! Squirrels can get into your house and the Attic or a Garage or building and chew on electric wires and start fires !!!!
.
.
We have been getting Deer in about 5PM, they like to come in and feed on the exposed Grass beside the Garage and I put out a pile of Corn for them now !
.

.
Wednesday was the "High Noon Club" Lunch, the first Wednesday of the Month the Old timers gather at high noon for lunch and chatter,  Picture from each end of the table.
.
.
.
We always get a picture, Never know how many we get, we got a Dozen Old Cops, 2 Detectives, a past Police Chief and a Deputy Police Chief, we had over 250 years of combined service adding up everyone's service Time !!!!
.

.
The 3 at the end are the class of  #9-74, we came on with one of the Largest Classes, Dale, Me and George, George left after 8 years and became a New York State Trooper !
.
.
Above is February 5th 2020, We all walked these Streets as "Beat Cops", We would walk these Streets 24 Hours a Day, 7 Days a week, 365 days a year, and would drive past them when assigned to a Patrol Unit,  Most of us would rather walk the "Beats !   Notice it is sunny, Temp was 48 degrees which is unusual !
.
Have to close this, time to put the Bread in the Oven !
.

Don't Forget, Remember Our Vets !

You are so right about the squirrel chewing everything. Varmints are nasty. Thanks for your service. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

When I was asked to do some work on the last church we attended regularly in Florida I had to get in the attic. I had never seen so much electrical damage and NO DEAD squirrels. They must love the plastic in the 12/2 wire. there were 15-20 feet all totaled of BARE copper. I marveled at how they could uncover the hot and common and not touch both at the same time and get electrocuted.
Anyway, if I was there I would only share with the fox, I love squirrel and squirrel gravy. My mama could make it taste even better than her fried chicken.
Take care and good luck at cutting the population down.
