REMODELING

Well, we had to do some remodeling on the house,  the washer and dryer that were in this house we bought were in the Basement, The house next door we owned the washer and dryer were in the Bathroom.  SO we got the "Building Permits as we were doing Electrical work and "we picked a small room and hired a contractor (We know him and Like Him) to install the needed electric and plumbing we had to have for a new washer and dryer we are going to buy !  Here is the room we are going to use, it has paneling, and a nice burbur thick carpet and carpet padding !
.

.
The carpet was a bugger to cut, we cut it out and was going to put down new vinyl flooring under the washer and dryer,  Dryer on the window side!
.
.
After using a straight edge and cutting the carpet which was tough as I watched the man cutting beak a blade and really put some pressure on the knife we found after taking out the carpet and then the carpet pad that under the carpet was a Tile Block Floor which looked brand new, SO: the vinyl we bought we saved and used the existing floor!  Saved us some time$$$$$$$$ !

.
.
The room is ready for the Washer and Dryer, The new water line for hot and cold water, drain line and electric for washer and 220V ran for dryer, the dryer vent was a bugger to get thru the 4 inch hole we had to cut in the vinyl tile, 1/2 inch plywood underlayment and the 1 inch floor board then drag and draw this thru the hole,  the new Building code requires a 4 prong outlet now instead of a 3 prong,   we now just to go buy the washer and dryer !
.
.
On the far right was the washer and dryer, there is a dehumidifier sitting on the stand next to the sink, the blue lines are the new Hot and Cold lines we pit in, this is the new "PEX" tubing and PEX fittings which are now just crimped, no soldering or compression copper fittings.  Contractor even let me install a few valves but my weak strength on the Stroke Side I wasn't strong enough to properly use the crimping tool.     The 4 inch PVC line is the sewer line and the 2 inch is the Washing machine drain line tapped into the 4 inch and made sure they put in a P Trap to prevent sewage smell back up !!!!
.
.
Had to run 220V up for the dryer, the one we are replacing was a Gas dryer and I do not like Gas,  This is the Electric before we changed the wire spacing, put in required staples 6 inchs from electrical Box,  this was an electricians dream, I don't do electrical !
.
.
Great stuff, most cuts and 1 twist of the cutter on the pipe instead of many twists with the copper cutter and there is a loud "click" when the pipe seats itself in the connector !
.
Work done, electrical inspector here and all the pressure tests done, now off shopping for dryer and washer.

Wolly Bears

Up here in Northern New York, towards the (Canadian Border) we had an interesting critter, we have always called him the "Wolly Bear" !The woolly bear caterpillar—also called woolly worm or fuzzy worm—has the reputation of being able to forecast the coming winter weather.  The Wolly Bear is Pyrrharctia isabella, the Isabella tiger moth.
.
.
I don't know if they have these down south or not !  I googled this and it states,
For the past 10 years, Banner Elk, North Carolina, has held an annual “Woolly Worm Festival” each October, highlighted by a caterpillar race. Retired mayor Charles Von Canon inspects the champion woolly bear and announces his winter forecast.
If the rusty band is wide, then it will be a mild winter. The more black there is, the more severe the winter.
.
.
This guy crawled all over my hand and arm and didn't act like he wanted his picture taken.
.
He or She to be politically correct is seeking out a place to spend the winter in a hole, some place to curl up and sleep till spring !
.
.
When spring arrives, woolly bears spin fuzzy cocoons and transform inside them into full-grown moths called Pyrrharctia Isabella Moth.
.
.
My Honey raking up and cleaning out the sidewalk to make it easy to shovel snow,  WE HAVE A "FROST ADVISORY" posted for tonight !
.
Everyone stay warm, it is 48 degrees here at 10PM and gonna dip down !

Back to Normal

I am still sad about losing my beautiful sister but life goes on !  Tonight we went over to the Nursing Home and picked a few tunes and sang a few songs, said a few prayers, got some laughter going and just enjoyed myself !
.
.
We belted out some old favorites, some Hymns and I now play mostly Mandolin !
.
I like the Mandolin as it gives me the chance to wander out into the residents and play and sing with them and joke around with them !.
.
.
Standing with 2 Veterans who live at Carthage Center,  Steve and Carl, both have been living there for several years,  both wheelchair bound but they love to pick on me about my need for a Haircut or once they gave me some change so I could go take "Singing Lessons" !
My Brother and sister are still being nasty but I just Pray for them and let it go !!!!!

Keeping Busy !

I am trying to keep busy after losing my sister and with the family feuding, it is not hard, we lived in Senior citizen Housing for the past 12 1/2 years, mostly in recliners and staring out the window,  we are now busy, we are enjoying our House, I am enjoying the garage, my garden shed, the basement, Anna Mae is enjoying yard work, exercise by doing things. we are happy !
.
.
The "Moose", this is my Mother in laws moose, she brought it up from Florida, the "Antlers" were broke and needed new ones so I had a nice piece of 1 X 10 inch  spruce so i cut out 2 sides of the Antlers,  other than some spruce pitch it worked out well !
.
.
The "Antlers" on the moose, the moose is made out of Cedar and smells nice.  It is a plant holder or a catch all.
.
.
After some repairs of the leg, a few slats and new "Antlers" it is done,  My Mother in law is now back in New York State.
.
My Mother in Law sold her place in Okeechobee Florida, packed up, cleaned out, got rid of a lot of things and has gotten a place in Karcher Estates Senior Citizen Housing in Castorland, New York, right now she is staying with us till she gets her furniture delivered.
.
Well, looks like it is going to be Fall soon as leaves are changing off the Green to a lighter color.

Sad Times

Sadly we have had services for my sister Janice who just passed away in the Nursing Home !  Sadly my Sister and Brother did not come to "Calling Hors" and would not attend the "Celebration of Life" ! My poor Father is probably looking down and just shaking his head at the way his family has turned out !
.
.
Well, I have 1 brother in Florida Ronnie that I can talk to, My oldest Brother Jim just rides the fence and goes along with everyone, at 86 he does not want any 'Drama" or nonsence as time is precious !
.
My other sister is so bitter and angry it is eating  her up and turning her against me and my sisters daughter who was forced to pit my sister in a Nursing home !
.
.
Oh well, I will pray for them, Ask God to forgive them for being so hard hearted !
.
.
.
My Dad, somehow he always made things better !

Well, working around the house and lot we needed a break health wise and so off we went,  We headed up into the Adirondack Mountains !  First stop was for Pancakes, sausage, eggs, homefries, toast and Hot steaming coffee at "Loyd's of Lowville!    It has been there for as long as I can remember and has had only a few owners!
.
.
We love "Diners", they know us here as we stop here a lot when going to Lowville !
.
.
My Honey standing in front of a Chain Saw carving of Eagles, a tree and rocks in front of the Adirondack Lodge we stayed in with the heated pool !
.
.
This is the front lawn of the Town of Webb School where the deer casually feed, School is in session so I can guess what these students are looking at, some of these students ride a bus for 45 to 50 minutes to get to a central school !
.
.
The 'Deer" have the "Right Of Way" in the street, we saw dozens of deer wandering around Old Forge, Inlet and Tupper Lake !
.
.
This is the "Old Forge Hardware Store, 2 stories and 1 block wide and if they don't have it you do not need it !
.
.
My Honey maybe getting herself a new Winter Hat in the Hardware Store !
.
.
In the food section they have "Everything",  a calander for 2020 and a Dip Mix !!
.
.
A Doormat, My Honey said "No" !!
.
.
Walking across the street these 3 were feeding in a grassy area, Momma Deer and 2 spotted baby fawns !
.
.
We had to have lunch at Walt's Diner', A lot of good food for a not a lot of money !
.
.
Standing on the Landing Dock in Inlet enjoying a Breeze, walking around and sunshine and relaxing !
.
.
Taking a well deserved Break in front of the Hardware Store !
.
.
We took this picture on our way to dinner, see the apples on the road she was eating !
.
.
There were also "Bucks" around, this was a 4 point, young buck, they wander all over yards where the apple trees are !   I don't like hunting these deer as they do not have the flavor of the Swamp bucks !
.
.
No, I am not eating Venison, We went out on the last night of our break for a Steak Dinner !
.

.
.
The Road home and there were a few trees turning colors as the daylight fades and nights get cooler !
.
I did notice that there were lots of Veterans out and about, Every body had on their Cover with the Branch they served in and we all either nodded, said "Hey" or shook hands and chatted, nice break so nw its back home and back to puttering around !      VETERAN'S !!!!
