Quiet Time

Not much going on, it is the Shortest day of the year and "The First Day Of Winter" !   We have came up from being BELOW ZERO to now all the way up to 16 Degrees !

This is one of my 4 :Jades",  a (Crassula), This was taken this summer and they all were not doing very well !    Not a lot of Growth !

.

.

I like Jades because my Father grew them, his were large and sit in windows in the cellar while I was growing up !    Good Memory !

.

.

When we moved into our New (Old ) House in Deferiet I took some time and trimmed, repotted and gave the 4 Jades some much needed attention !

.

.

My Honey is getting ready planning where her Wavy Petunias are going to be planted this spring !

.

.

Lst Years flower Bed My Honey planted, she plans changing it this coming Spring after winter !  We are already early looking at seed and plant catalogs !

.

.

Right now the Jades are full, green and growing nicely in the Laundry Room with a southern window for light.  They are doing OK !

.

.

My Honey has them shoveled out so now it is Time to bundle up put on a Mask and go outside and fill the bird feeders and suet feeders  after I clear off the foot of snow !

.

.

Surprises

We were quietly having Coffee watching it Snow again sitting in the Kitchen and My Honey happened to look out the window and said; Look, Deer !  Sure enough there were several Deer on the back lawn !

.

.

Sure enough there were 2 nice Does wandering around the Fire Pit and Spruce Tree !

.

.

I zoomed in and over in the Tree Line quietly walking down the edge was another deer, a Doe quietly eating !

.

.

Looking out the side by our Garage there was another Little Doe heading towards the driveway !

.

.

Another Bigger Doe came sneaking around and looking at me looking at her !   Der Hunting Season Ended up here Sunday, these Deer were now out moving around from Hiding !!!!!

.

We are truly Blessed !

Family Christmas Dinner

As the family got older and expanded a little about 7 or 8 years ago we took the Grandson and Granddaughter out for Dinner for their Christmas Present.  Well, it seems the older ones wanted to join in so a nice dinner became the Present We gave the Family !
.

.

This year, (2019) there is me, My Honey, Daughter Sabrina, in back Son in Law Ed, Grandson Brent, Grandson in Law Aaron, Granddaughter Shannon and Great Grandson Aiden !  Great Evening and meal !

.

.

Last Year, (2017) was same except beside My Honey is my Ex Wife Donna, Missing is Grandson Brent and Great Grandson Aiden is on couple months old !

.

.

This was (2016) for Christmas Dinner !

.

.

Above is Christmas (2015), we had a Green Christmas and it was very warm !  An addition was My son Jonathan was home from Oregon for Christmas !

.

Above was (2014) and all the pictures were taken at Art's Jug in Watertown, Missing a couple years !

This was one of our Group Pictures at the Granddaughters when there was 9 of us  before the Great Grandson came along and Keri was missing !

. A few years back we had a pretty good crowd at our Daughters when Jonathan came out from Oregon with his Girl Friend Keri.

All in all it was a nice evening and another Great Meal at Art's Jug for Christmas !

Giving Back

We are truly a "Blessed Couple" !       Home, Family, loved, not bad in todays society !

.

Today is our yearly Trek to the Carthage Center Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for our "Christmas Party" !   There are roughly 80 to 90 residents who live or stay here for different periods of time !  Some this is their Home !   We have visited here for a long time as My Mother Lived here in her "later years! These are last years Pictures, (2018).

My Honey with Alice, Anna Mae has known her for years, Alice lives at the Nursing Home, very sharp and lovely lady !

.

.

I am visiting with Pat, Pat is from my home Town little village of Edwards, her son and I had a band in high school !   I graduated with her Daughter from High School,  Every resident at the Home got a Present they asked for and some personel items also, they were asked what they wanted for Christmas, Pat wanted a sweater and she got one along with other items.the Nursing Home got a list for us !

The Village Church's an some business's and individuals all donated money, all residents were bought a given a present last year !  This is my Girl Friend Evelyn !!!

.

.

We sang, Prayed, and mingled with the residents and plan on doing it again this year !

.

.

My Honey went door to door to visit and give presents to those who could not make it down to the community room, this is one of my wife's dear friends, sadly she will not be here this Christmas !

.

.

The Lady in the Red Shirt and in the center is the main lady who gets this all together starting in October every year to make sure every resident is visited, given a present and has lots of treats and food !    The staff last year was awesome in helping out ! Sadly some residents in this picture are no longer with us !

.

.

The room was Packed, the 2 side rooms were also full of Residents, Visitors, Staff and food and refreshments !

.

.

We finished with a Song, a Prayer and well wish's for a Great New Year ! Our Group loved the opportunity to be able to "Give Back" !

.

We need to remember our Veterans !  

North Country

Found my missing Post, here it is with an addition !
One thing about living in the North Country, if you don't like the weather, just wait 24 hours as it will change.

Looking out the front window My Honey is shoveling the walk for exercise as we got 7+ inches of Snow !

.

.

And the weather did change, we got some "Southern Breezes" and lo and behold there is the grass!

.

.

The back yard and tree line with the 7+ inches of Snow we got !  It snowed for 2 days and temps were 3 above zero !

.

.

After the "Southern Breezes" came thru with the heavy rains we have our Green Lawn back, our Temps were up to 51 degrees and it was nice out,  some difference between the 2 pictures !

.

But tomorrow, (Wednesday) it is supposed to drop back down to about 10 degrees and a storm coming in !!!  (Yup, we got the storm) !

.

Today we went and picked up a new (Old) wooden table and 4 chairs we bought off from "craigslist: up in Castorland. We got them home, and now after much bull work taken the other table and chairs to the garage and then new (Old) set is now cleaned and polished and in place, made it just before the storm hit, white outs, winds, cold temps!!!  

.

My Honey is resting as she gave Blood today on the American Legion Blood Drive, she gives blood about every 8 weeks! 

.

The Pictures of the Green Grass above from yesterday, there now white again !     Storm dumped snow and drifts !

.

Snow came back !!!!!!!  Oh well, it will all be done with in 4 months !   LoL !!!!

Holidays !

Here comes Christmas, We are celebrating it in our "own house" this year, we are excited about it.
Because of allergies we no longer can have a real spruce tree so we use artificial tree.  We had one tree we would take to Myrtle Beach or Florida we had for years.

We did go bigger with our tree this year and have started to decorate after we have put all the outside lights up !

.

.

We have started to put the Christmas Tree up !

.

.

Looks like it's gonna be a "Merry Christmas" !

.

.

With Christmas up here comes "Snow", and we did get snow, about 7 inches of the White Stuff!  My Honey is cleaning out the Bird Feeder out front.

.

.

.

It is a quiet Sunday, Great Church Service and relaxing !

Winters approach

It's starting to get to be winter, the 21st is the first day of winter, this is the 4th and it is coming.

.

I am outside taking a picture of and checking the roof for "Hot Spots", No I am not crazy looking at the snow covered roof and trying to find a hot spot,  I found one,  Look at the roof, directly over the porch roof and about 3 feet back you will see a black area, about 2 feet long and 6 inches wide, this is an area where heat is escaping from the envelope of the house, in the spring I will go up into the crawl space and check this area to see why warmth is escaping !!!

The rear roof and no black areas showing which is good,  There is no heat loss!  We got about 5 fresh inches of snow !!!

.

My Honey shoveling the front walk and sidewalk, she is not crazy, she enjoys shoveling, she says it clears her mind, stretches her back muscles and helps her back !

Our Street, Wilna Avenue. we walked down and are looking back towards our house which is due east !

I am walking with My Honey, I have on long underware, pants, a sweat shirt, flannel shirt, insulated coat, a heated neck wrap, a fur skin hat and my hood up with heated gloves and a "Breathing Mask" for my lungs and Heart !  This picture below is where my mind thinks I am !!!LoL !

Winter came back !

Up early, cold night, 9 degrees outside, Coffee Hot and House Warm,  Green Grass outside,  We left at 10AM for Church, set up for a "Moravian Lovefeast" for Communion today.

.

My Honey made a sweetened coffee and a small roll we served to the Congregation for Communion, following the Blessing of the Elements while enjoying their drink and roll folks chatted, drank coffee and ate their roll,  went over rather well I think !

.

After Church we headed Home, a 20 minute ride and it started Snowing rather hard, thankfully no wind, we were surprised as a 'Fisher" ran out into the road in front of us and an oncoming car, he made it across the road, Fishers are not seen often, their Hide to a trapper is worth from 50 to 70 dollars as now the Fur Market is way down at record level lows and not many Trappers now !

.

This is a Fisher, a member of the Weasel Family, they are mean and nasty, not well like by Chicken Farmers or Mink Farms as they can destroy more than they can eat!  I saw one my Father trapped back in the early 60's that was skinned out, Beautiful long haired, soft to the touch.

.

It is still snowing out at 6PM, we hired our Driveway and Walkway sno blowed and shoveled by a young Contractor for the winter, I am not supposed to shovel so the young man we have snowblows our place and is very reasonable as we pay him each time he sno blows, some people pay by the season.

.

.

I sit here in my Recliner and can see down the road while I watch a live feed on the Computer from Key West and Key Largo Beaches!  Something to keep my mind off the Snow !!LoL !!

.

.

My Honey and I went outside and she is standing in front of the Bird Feeder but you can see next to her the Lighted Christmas Tree in the back lawn.

.

.

I took my Mask off long enough to take this picture outside tonight after dinner as we checked the "Snow Gauge"  and we got 5 inches of snow this afternoon !
