Puttering Around

Well, its almost Winter, 14 more days from today,  So Last night I made Cookies" !    It was dark and Cold and had not Snowed yet so fired up the Oven !

My Favorite Cookie is the "Sugar Cookie", as a boy could not wait till Christmas because Mother made the Best !!!    We could Have Cookies and Milk almost every night the week before Christmas !!!

I made 2 dozen last night, took a few to the Neighbors and ate a "few" myself and gave my Honey one.

.

.

I took a couple Sugar Cookies to the Bank this Morning with me !    We are sitting in the Bank in the Mornings selling Raffle Tickets on Items for a Fund Raiser for our Church !  The Loons on the left are a Counted Cross Stich which my Honey did, t took her almost a Year to Make working on it in the evening !  There is a Pose Bed Spread, a Bucket of Chocolate, some women's cosmetics, 7 Items in all and we sold a lot of tickets !

Went outside and filled the Bird Feeders out front and out back and on the deck !

Finally found an Old "Banjo" I could afford, been saving for awhile and came across this Old Washburn 5 string a Lawyer had settling up an estate and  he didn't really know what it was or what it was worth or I never would have got it for what I got it for.  *Broke" Now so gotta start saving again.  (Another Blessing).   I have had a Banjo for years but traded it with some cash for another Guitar I just had to have !!!   Above is me in 2021 at 74 years old !!!

Above is a Picture of Me in 1974 with an Old Banjo which had a nice sweet Twang to it.   I played the Banjo and my Dad Played the Fiddle !!!

I have owned Mobile Homes, 1,2 3 and 4 Family Houses, worked on them doing minor repairs and upgrades except electrical which I will not do !  I wanted a shelf under this window so I googled how to do it,  and went at it this afternoon as I needed a window shelf in the basement for my Plants !   

.

I got a Masonary Drill Bit, Frogged Around measuring my shelf, marking the Brackets, drilling out the holes and inserting little plastic anchors and then screwing them into the cement wall.  It was very Hard Drilling the holes.  I did it this way so I could have the window open in the summer when it returns !

"Done",  finished project,  Nice shelf, This is the West Side window,  Hard to believe this is the first shelf I have ever put up on a concrete wall, found out it wasn't that Hard a Job.  I think "Jack" from "Shipslog"   Shipslog (shipslog-jack.blogspot.com)

would be Proud of this Old 1st Class Petty Officer and I might get a Bravo Zulu !!!!!   LoL !!!

This is the shelf I installed on the East Side of the Cellar that catch's the Morning Sun, I used inverted angle Iron,  "It Worked" and It holds Plants, memories and Guitar, Mandolin and Banjo an Dobro Strings !

Changes

 Well, Old Man Winter reared his ugly Head and we got Snow, Freezing Rain and Black Ice.  Was Nasty past few days then it warmed up !

.

The front lawn went from 2 inches of Snow to now Green Grass again,   Village had plowed the streets NINE TIMES and now it is bare and no Snow Banks but am sure it will be back but tomorrow, 12/4 - Saturday it's gonna Rain again !

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas here,  We have the Christmas Tree unboxed and up,   The lights up outside and around some windows and My Honey has the Cretch out !

Snow Time !

 Well it Snowed, got cold then started to warm up,  We got up to 17 Degrees and about 2 inches of Snow.  It was about 24 degrees and I have to sometimes wear a Blue Mask to help my Breathing,  I did do a Breathing treatment this morning to help befor going outside, I use Levalalbuterol Tartrate HFA  15mcg,  I used to use Albuterol HFA but it caused some problems with heart rate !!!

I went outside to clean the feeders and feed the Birds, I had on Insulated Carhart Overhalls, 2 shirts, Boots, Heavy Winter Coat and a Touque !  Got some Sunflower and Cracked Corn and filled feeders !

.

This is the 5 inch "Snow Bank" it took the Village Crew 5 TIMES TO PLOW OUR STREET and then again in the Morning to Sand the street with sand and salt !    They either made some good Money or got some good Comp Time for this !!

My Honey and Neighbor across the street shoveling away the Snow from the driveway entrance !   He was also surprised the Village "Plowed" our Street 5 TIMES !!!!

One advantage to having a Garage, The Car is free of Snow and warms up quickly !!!    It is easier to back out thru the Snow than to Drive out,  In deep Snow it is easier to Back out than Drive out, Vehicle has more Power backing up !

.

Front feeder filled and cleaned out, We now have and have had a pair of Cardinals,  Chick a Dees, Sparrows, Blue Jays, Wood Peckers, Nut Hatches, a Shrike.  Nice watching them !!

Covid here in New York State is on the Rise, we are very Careful,  We are going to have a "Shut Down" if it keeps going up, Hospitals are Filling up here and patients are being diverted to other areas !!!! 

.

Chores are done, Dinner over, Tonight was Cube Steak and Taters with Amish Bread,  Dishes done and put away. Blog done I will spend the evening listening to Music or puttering around or just sitting in "Old Blue" watching the Flames of the Gas Heater !

Old Man Winter follows Turkey

 Well we enjoyed a nice Thanksgiving Dinner with My Honeys Mother and 2 of her Uncles up in Castorland,  We cooked her Turkey and made the dressing and she made the squash and Potatoes an Gravy., we ate at 1PM and it was great, desert was Pumpkin Pie and Georgia pecan Pie shipped in from Georgia.   Home and relaxed and off to bed !

After Bacon and Eggs an Coffee My Honey dragged the Christmas Decorations Totes, boxes and Totes up stairs and we started to decorate and put up the Tree!

.

.

We watched the weather, we have a storm coming in !!

.

.

At 3PM after the rain the temps dropped and the Snow started,  we got a dusting.

.

.

It snowed during dinner of left over Turkey Dinner, we have about 2 inches of wet, heavy packy snow,  Village Snow Plow just went thru and plowed about 2 inches of snow out of the road and then will turn around and come down the road and spread sand and salt, Main Roads they Plow and Sand all in 1 trip but here they do it in 2 trips $$$$$$$$ instead of 1   !

Hopefully Snow will not amount to much and we will get a warm spell !!

Blessings to all those who had to work this Holiday, Our Military is still scattered around the world, our front line EMS and Law Enforcement and Fire need our Prayers !

Keeping Busy

 Well things have slowed down a little, we are not on the road every day to Doctors for awhile and both are feeling better.  Weather is cooler, we have had a lot of frosts and flowers are done but I am still getting some blossoms on my Roses !!

My Pink Roses are still Blossoming but slowly the Frost is getting to them !

.

.

My Dad's Old English Tea Roses are still putting out a few nice Tea Roses but soon will quit as it gets colder !

.

.

The Halloween lights shown above are down and we are putting up the Christmas Lights.

.

.

The Bride just had a Birthday, she got this box from her Mother for her Birthday, it was something we needed.

.

.

We needed new Tables beside our Chairs and found them and My Honeys Mother bought them for us, all I had to do after they were delivered was to put them together !

.

.

After help from the Wife we got them unpacked, sorted and using glue, screws and wooden pegs we got both of them together and they now nicely sit beside each of our recliners !!  The lower right corner of the picture is the blonde tables we replaced, they went to the basement for now !

Hope it holds off for awhile for it settles in this year !!

Seasons and Reasons

 Well, I sit here tired, sore and Blessed,  Last week  I went to the Doctor and had a Stress Test on the Tread Mill, I was having chest discomfort and short of breath.   Doctor said he would review my results so we went home.   We were home for about an hour when the Phone Rang and it was the Doctors Office, they wanted me back at the Office regarding my Stress Test,   Went back and Doctor admitted me directly to the Hospital,  Short time later Ambulance arrived and Transferred me to Syracuse to St. Joseph's in Syracuse where I was admitted to the ICU on 5th floor.  Prepped and taken into Surgical Room for Heart Cath.

Doctors found I had a 90% Blockage on *(Right Coronary Artery) during Heart Cath and opened it up and inserted a Xience Heart Stent: 4mm X 14mm.  Few days in Hospital and home resting.

. 

We have started into the Early part of *(Winter), we have had some Hard Frosts and *Snow !!!

.

I haven't Posted much as there is just the usual going on, eat, sleep, putter around, Church, Legion, Doctors, Treatments,  *Repeat !   But we are Truly Blessed !!!!!  There are others far worse off than we are.

I had the Son in Law over.  The old Fire Place in the Cellar "Gave up the Ghost" and quit.  It was old enough that replacement Parts were not available, it needs the igniter and Pilot Light.

.

This was the comfortable spot on a cold day,  we were given the Natural Gas Vent less Fire Place and used it all last Fall and Winter !

.

.

This is the replacement Heater my Son In Law Installed while I sat and watched, still not able to do much after my Hospital Visit.

.

.

This is the unit all installed, fired it up and let it burn off with the window open for about 20 minutes to get rid of the coatings on it and then turned it on Auto and it warmed up the cellar to a nice 78 degrees  and it is 31 outside right now.

.

Soon should be able to get back to playing Music and using my right Arm in a few days !

All set an tuned an ready !  Just can't use that right arm or lift anything over 5 pounds !
