Winner, Winner, Spaghetti Dinner

Nice Rainy Day !   Today is our local Carthage Area Hospital (Heart Walk Team) benefit fundraiser.  They have a Spaghetti Dinner and raffles and prizes.

.

We went over and had a Nice Spaghetti Lunch at 1PM,  Talked with some friends who walk in the Heart Walk, we then bought some tickets on different prizes!  Walked around the Legion and visited with a few Brothers and Sisters !  Had a Ginger Ale and went home !

.

About 4PM the phone rang, we WON some items !

.

We went over to the American Legion, Bassett-Baxter Post 789 where I am a member and were given our prizes.

.

.

My Honey is shown with RN Tina Hartley  with a nice fancy Chocolate and Wine Basket she won !

.

.

Tina is giving me another Basket of Wine we won and I also won a Pampered Chef indoor/Outdoor Grill shown below, can use it inside or outside! I don't think we will use it inside our apartment and they are not allowed to be used !  As the "Fire Marshall" for this building I would have to give myself a "Ticket" !

Nice as I understand "Pampered Chef " is a nice quality item !

Shown above is Steve and Tina Hartley, We are close friends with Tina and also her Parents and Steve is also a Registered Nurse Practitioner who runs the Hospital as the Charge Nurse on nights.  I watched Steve grow up in my home Town of Edwards.

.

We had a good afternoon and glad we could support the Heart Walk Team, I also am Thankful for Steve and Tina as they are usually on duty when I have ended up in the ER with Heart Problems and they give excellent care !

.

.This is the Grill and some of the Wine we won today and the chocolate and cracker snacks.

NOW WE HAVE TO FIND SOMEONE TO GIVE ALL THE WINE TO, WE DON'T DRINK ALL THIS DIFFERENT KINDS OF WINE !

Car Repairs

Well, Gotta take the car in to have it fixed !    Going down the road there is now a HUM !!!!    Took it to our local Tire Man where we buy tires and have for a long time he rotated the tires, Didn't fix the Problem!

We have a 2015 KIA Sorrento, we tow and travel with it, it is our second one we have owned !

.

.

This is the Wheel Bearing, it cost just under $200 dollars !!!!   We have Thesier Equipment do all our repairs and Oil Changes and he has for the past 20+ years been fair Honest and friendly so this is where we will take it Wednesday !,  Total Charges, In between $400 to $600 dollars for the repair.  (OUCH) !!!!!   But we only have 1 vehicle and we need it !

Hopefully this is all it needs to be repaired !

Winter Doldrums !!!!

Not a bad day,    Rough Night, up at 5AM, watched it turn daylight,  Saw a few Robins after the early Bird worms,  The temps last night were 37 degrees when I got up !

Hopefully we will not get the 8 to 12 inches of snow, I am ready for Trout Fishing April 1st !

1st Day of Spring

Well, today was the first day of spring,  52 degrees, sunny and snow melting and headed out to do the Lenten Luncheon,  Every Wednesday till Easter we have a Noon Lenten Service at a different Church in the area.

Today we were at Trinity Episcopal Church, I assist in doing some of the Music, today  I played with the Carthage Central retired Music Teacher.  It is tough to Play with a Music Teacher but I held my own and we had fun !   Sermon was 20 minutes, we sang 3 songs and then had a nice luncheon after service. 

.

.

WELL, Spring is here but "Old Man Winter"  is going to lift his ugly head and we might be getting between 8 to 12 inches of Snow, Rain, Sleet and wind,  I HOPE NOT !

.

.

I have noticed that it takes more to impress me than it used to !    I saw this posted and liked it !

.

.

Been a rough couple days, but got thru them,   this aging process is a learning curve for sure and takes some adjusting !!!!!

.

I sometimes wonder if Moving in Here to Senior Citizen Housing was possibly a "Bad Move" !   Not much to do and lot of down time !

.

Well, hope this storm is not a bad one,  Everyone stay warm !   Stay Busy and Healthy!

Luck Oh The Irish!

I always thought I was Native American, I sent in my DNA and came back I am from Europe, Irish, Welch and was I surprised.
.
SO; for tomorrow we did a "Corned Beef Brisket an Cabbage" for dinner ! Corned beef comes from the brisket and silverside of the cow, below the shoulder,  
.
I started out putting the Corned Beef in 3 cups water, simmered it for 2 hours, I added Onions, carrots, cooked for an hour, then added potatoes and then added a head of cabbage !

.

.

Have had this "Old Pot" for a long time and cooked a lot of food in it !

.

After everything was cooked, seasoned, and simmered it was time to test the Pot !

.

.

The main dish not only looked good...……...

.

.

But it tasted delicious...…………………..

.

.

The Best part is the longer it sits in it's own juices the better it will taste.  So Tomorrow we will again have our "St. Paddy's Day Feast" !

.

American Legion Meeting

I had my American Legion Meeting tonight,  I have been the Post Finance Officer and also the Post Historian.  Tonight was nomination of Officers and I turned down the Nomination for Post Historian, I have been Post Historian for 15 Years and was Finance Officer for 2 years. Time for a break.
.

.

Above is the current Board of Officers, there will be only 2 changes on this, myself and Gary Bierman who is pictured right below me, we both have Heart Issues and are going to take a year off !

.

One of the biggest projects I worked on for many years is Posting pictures of all our Veterans, From the start of the Post in 1920 to present day!

.

House Bound - Missin Fishin

If it wasn't for Church on Sunday we would have been House Bound !!!!!   It has been a long winter so far and we have another Month of it, but Sugaring is starting to make Maple Syrup and Pancake and Sausage Breakfasts will start up around the area.

I really am missing my fishing, sunshine and outside.

Camping Tents, Vehicles

Sitting here going thru some old pictures of campers and vehicles I have had and used !

First Van I had was a 1966 Ford extended body, I converted it into a camper,  only issue with this was the engine was between the front seats and on my first trip to Florida in 1974 the heat off the engine burned my right leg.  

.

.

My next trip to Florida I had this Dodge conversion Van, Great Van with that Dodge 318 Engine you could not beat !   Great mileage and reliable.

.

.

My next van was a VW I converted over to a camper, I really liked it, Only issue was I burned the motor out of it and could not find anyone to repair the engine !

.

.

.

I know neither one of us can go back to sleeping on the Ground in a Tent !!!

.

Oh, well, Spring is not far away !!     Remember our Vets !!

Spring is coming !

Well, it is now March,  Spring is coming, we will "Spring Forward" soon setting our clocks ahead 1 hour !!!!   I would rather have the extra day light at the end of the day all year long and NOT "Fall Back" by losing an hour of day light during fall and winter !   END OF RANT !!!!

I hope I am around 20 years from now,  I want to see the Great Grandson grown up !  But Who knows where my name is written in the "Lambs Book of Life" !

Being almost 10 years older than My Honey we now talk about age more than we did.  She said she doesn't care how old or cranky I got, she was sticking by me to the end !!!

.

.

This is Marty and Penny, Our Longest life time friends here in Carthage.  They stood up with us when we got married, we spend a lot of time with them at home and at Church!
