Squared Away

I like things "Squared Away" !  I have the Garage pretty much done, Not bad, next is the Garden Shed !  I need to Hoe it out, get rid of some things and put in shelves and another window !

In front of the Garden Shed is my "Morning Glory" plants. I love growing clinging Vine plants! These got a late start on growing season as we could not plant till late in season !

.

.

I was lucky this year that my flowers came in red and white and blue, usually they come in all blue !

.

.

.

In the Garden Shed the former owner Norm Lovejoy took out the windows and put in Plywood,  I took out the plywood and put in a piece of Plastic I found and cut it to size and put it in !

.

.

This is where I need another window !

.

.

This is the back wall where I need shelves for several Air Conditioners, pots and outside items.

.

I will start this soon as if the weather continues to stay cool I will take the Air Conditioners out !

.

The cellar or Basement is being worked on by both of us as we will have an exercise room in one area of it for this winter !

.

HURRICANE COMING:  I hope "DORION" does not do much damage to property or Life,  Stay Safe Jack and Sher !

Anna Mae and I went thru a couple of them when we lived in Harbor Heights on the Peace River and went thru 1 down at Ft. Myers !

Furniture Torture

I don't know if anyone has ever bought a piece of furniture and found it to be almost pure torture to put together, you would think that spending a fortune on a piece of wood, metal and glass that it would pop together in a snap !  Nope that's what my back did was "Snap" !  We spent Tuesday working on a piece we bought and had stored in garage.

The old TV stand had 3 wood shelves, it held the router, CD/VCR player and Cable Box, these would get hot and there was no way for air to move around them and we also wanted to change things around !

.

.

We changed TV over to being on a frame supported by a metal post and Glass Mirrored shelves, everything was screws, offset hangers, more screws an bolts, I could not use my electric screw driver as they said NOT to over tighten screws and bolts as it would shatter the glass, SO, it was lay on the floor, on my side or back, hand tighten them all using an allen or Hex driver   and after 4 hours, Job was done, Momma was happy so I was happy, next was off to buy a new LINKSYS Router for Computers and Phones as we are farther away from the TV Router now and signal is weaker!  Job Done, found a 5360 at Wally World !

.

We were up early to listen to the downpour we were getting, it really rained this morning and most of day.  We relaxed to rest the backs and aches and pains from yesterday !

.

We are enjoying the House, we do not really miss West Side Terrace but several Tenants keep me posted on whats going on !

.

.

I am still playing at the Nursing Home with Mark and Karl, we have seen a lot of New Faces and have missed some familiar faces as people come and go !

.

.

My Jades are doing very well outside, after todays soaking rain and cooler temps I will move them to inside the garage until I get some shelves built in the Garden Shed! I still have the Garden Shed to work on and some items that need to be be picked up I gave away!

.

It is dark, I need to go take my night Meds and settle down for the night with some head phones and some music !

.

Home Site

We are home from our Adventure, De Colores !  I wandered around checking the flowers and we put in out Cooking/Fire Pit !

.

I figured that with a 21 inch tire truck rim we would need 16 stone blocks, we drove into Town and got 16,  we brought them home and lugged on them and put them into place,  well, it was close, the rim was 23 inches so we had to drive back to town and get 2 more, I found it hard to believe scrap concrete that they use to make these makes them $3.00 @ !!!!!

My throne, fire pit and view ready for Fall Fires and watching the Leaves change colors and the deer and buffalo roam !!

The end of the Roses is near as these I fear will be the last of the blossoms on the Lazy Pinks out front !

The most beautiful Rose in my plots has to be this Beauty, My Honey !!!!!!!

The Tomatos are nice and plump and slowly turning red, we have had some of these for sandwichs and they were and are delicious !

.

.

These are the small "Sweet 100" grape tomatos, they are delicious and right now the size of a grape !

.

.

The Hummingbirds are busy loading up, this is a Female,  she will sit and eat, the ruby throated males that come in will not land hardly at all but hover and eat !   

.

Well, we are coming up on Labor Day and September 2 will be our wedding anniversary,   The time sure is flying by fast !

.

.

Cooling Off

Well, it is the last week of August,  I am "Cold",  It is 68 degrees outside, I worked on an old Night Stand, it was warm in the sun most of the day, pretty quiet here with my Honey gone on a Via de Cristo weekend.
.
I have a 2 friend's in Citrus Springs who were Police Officers with me, Bill and Ken,  Ken had a Heart issue and had a valve replaced with a pigs valve several years ago,  Bill had his lower back fused with steel rods after a Police Motorcycle Accident.  They hated the cold so moved to Florida !
.
Ken was in his Garage yesterday working on insulating his ceiling when he fell thru the ceiling down 10 feet, ripped and tore some skin and lucky he didn't break any bones, but he has to have his spleen removed!!  Sometimes we forget how "Blessed" we are, I was only complaining about being cold !
.
The Hummingbirds are Gourging themselves at the feeders, they are really drinking lots of Nectar !!!  They will be gone in a couple of weeks if the temperatures stay cool.
.

.

This was a few years and a few pounds ago, about 50 pounds ago, maybe without all that "Fat" I get colder quicker, but it is really the Blood Thinners I am on that make me colder than normal !

.

Some sad Memories

I sit here staring at the 4 walls, My Honey is on a 4 day Spiritual Retreat, She has gone with 28 other women to a Via de Cristo # 22 - 4 day weekend in New Hartford at the Methodist Chruch !  Via de Cristo is a Spanish phrase meaning “Way of Christ.” Via de Cristo is a highly structured three-day weekend designed to strengthen and renew the faith of Christian people and bring them to a new awareness of living in God's grace.
.
I have attended several of these !
.
I have been sitting and thinking about Friends that I miss who have gone on ahead !   I miss a couple of them who were very close !
.

.

This is Mike Hart, This was a get togeather in Georgia in 1985, it had been 10 years or more since we had seen each other !  It was just like we had never been separated, we went thru school together from the 5th grade !

.

.

This was in the Hospital after I had major surgery and Heart Stents and a neck stroke after some blockages, again, it was like we had just seen each other the day before !  Mike died and left a large hole that still feels empty !

.

.

1 of my other closest High School friends was this little lady, Marlene Rowe Smith Sinclair , Marlene came from a tough growing up, this picture was our 50th High School Reunion, Marlene and I shared friendship like a brother and sister all thru and after school ! She lives in Florida and we visit an call !

.

.

Our Graduating class, we have lost 3 class mates !!

.

. 

.

The classmates able to attend our 50th reunion !  Our whole class males are Vietnam Era Veterans !

.

.

This was my Partner Mark Fuhrken on the Police Department, we walked Foot Patrols together, rode in Patrol Cars together,  had some close calls and fights, chases, and scrapes that we survived !

.

.

Mark and I with the Sgt. after making a major weapons and Drug Bust which made our local paper, the weapon I am holding was loaded and beside the door when we kicked in the door and went inside !  We found pounds of Pot, weapons, and lots of cash !!!

.

I still have a couple close friends but don't think they will ever replace the past ones !!!

.

Family Time

We have been very busy with Family Time and Doctors.

Above is my wife's Uncle George Waite and his wife Rochelle, surrounded by his children, Grand Children and Great Grandchildren, Aunt Rochelle just turned 80 and George is 83, They had a great party and large crowd gathered !  George Waite is one of the 17 Waite Children !!

.

Me and my Uncle Paul Waite, Paul just turned 80 and we went to his Party up in Turin at the teak and Brew, Paul is another one of the 17 Waite Children !

.

.

This is my Mother in Law, Irene Waite Astafan,  she is one of the 17 Waite Kids, she is a young 85 and is moving back to New York from Florida !

.

.

This is my Uncle Herb, Herb is also one of the 17 and his brother Ernie from Hawaia !

Herb is 97 !!   Ernie is 80+!!!

.

.

Above is 10 of the 19 Waites, there was 19 but 2 died shortly after birth !  Ernie, Sarah, Irene, Paul, David, Herb, Duane, Ellen, Martha, Helen. Missing was 5 other kids, 2 of the 17 have passed away!

.

There was 13 in my Mothers Family and they are all passed away so I adopted my wifes aunts and uncles and they like me !!!  LoL !!!

.

.

The next party was one at my daughters, This is me and my Great - Grandson Aiden Andrew Naklick !  Aiden is growing up fast !

.

.

Me, Aiden and my Granddaughter, it was hot, this white enamel tub was one my mother used to give several of us a bath in while growing up, My daughter and son were given a bath in it, several nieces and nephews also were given baths!!!

.

.

My Daughter Sabrina, My Honey Anna Mae, My son in Law Ed, My Ex Wife Donna, My Granddaughter Shannon and Great Grandson Aiden !

.

.

Can not forget the Grandson Brent !!   Just graduated, going to Jefferson Community College this month !

.

Monday I went to Syracuse to UPSTATE Medical Center Stroke Center, I was checked, inspected, detected, injected and found some deterioation on the left stroke side but not a major loss !!!!    God is Good !

.

Outside work

We are still working, cutting, pruning and raking up the front of the house and almost where we want it to be !
.

.

I now have my "Flag" up and flying in the breeze, feeder is where I think it will be this fall and winter and easy to fill !

.

.

My Honey with Saint Francis "Flower Garden" which is growing fast enough to have to trip back !

.

.

The feeders are full, birds are plentiful, we also have a pair of Osprey, a Bittern and lots of Hummingbirds !

Lazy Akers Day

It was a nice start to the day at "LAZY-AKERS", up early for coffee,  Outside we saw a momma deer and her baby spotted fawn walk out of the woods and parade around for us long enough for me to go grab the camera and get a picture of them !
.

The Doe came out right after her "Spotted Fawn" came out to make sure she went back into the woods !

.

.

The Fawn came out first and Momma was right out after her while she was enjoying the green grass!   Nice Show while having Coffee !

.

We took it easy today and went grocery shopping and when we got home it was time to relax!!!

.

. 

The cooking rack hanging on orange post is beside the ring is for "Cooking", you are not allowed to have an "Open" fire in the village but ours is for Kooking !!!!!

Finally, we had our first "Outdoor Fire".

Taking Flight

Well, I got the "Drone" out last night and went thru the steeps on becoming a "Skilled" Pilot !

The audience was My Honey and My Mother in Law up from Okeechobee Florida out on the back deck watching the "Show" !!! LoL !

.

.

On the lower right is my Blue Spruce, Garage and Our White House, on Left is the State Troopers Garage and wooden fence my little white Garden Shed and Tomatoes in white pails!

.

The green Garage and Green House was our former House over 12 years ago !  

.

.

In the top of the picture is parts of the Former St. Regis/Champion Paper mill, I worked there part time in 1966 but could not get hired full time.

.

.

This was my highest elevation for before I started yelling "Mayday, Maday, KID2384" going down and I ended up in the spruce tree at my neighbors about 30 feet up in the spruce tree !

.

.

I was stuck in the tree overnight then my neighbor was able with his Ladder to get the "Drone" out of the tree !

.

Have to get farther away from the trees!!!!!!!

.

Day Light Fading

It is sad to see the daylight fading so early,  I like the long days of Daylight,  It is 8:23PM and Dark !!!  I would rather have it get dark at 9:00 PM.

Oh Well just adjust !

Tonight I cooked 2 of "Eddie Bolivers " Spare Ribs, these things are huge, I cut them in 2 and end up with 4 large pieces  of delicious pork !  My "Blue Spruce Tree" in back of me is I hope taking root !

.

.

It was delicious with Tomatoes and Fresh New Potatoes !

.

.

The "Morning Glory" is growing pretty good, there is still a pair of "Wrens" in the bird house, they are Jimmy and Jenny Wren and they have just 1 baby in the nest in the brown one on the end, this little brown and green bird house was my Dad's, He would have been 111 years old on the 8th !

.

Well it's 9PM and almost Bed Time, another reason I like longer days !!

.
